The new taffers that first encountered the Thief series with TDS, and then played the first two games and didn't like them because of the graphics, or because they were too hard or what not.
Normally i'd see nothing wrong with that (apart from being personally annoyed with them), but they are a large part of the ones raising their voice on the official forums and might influence the opinions of the developers. And that would make me so :grr:
I started with TDS actually but we do not all think like that. :nono:
Actually been at Eidos 5 Years but not the point. I loved the first two games and prefered the harder puzzles, and the first two games in hindsight. While TDS had alot of merits too, nothing to do with the Graphics, I liked the story though and other things.
Just Not enough darkness for a start, all other thing covered. The fences standing in a shop in broad daylight, should be hiding and meeting in the darkness. :erg: Could have made more use of that pub as well really.
I have played 100's of missions, the T2 way and like them much more.

Old or new taffer, it does not matter. They will do what they will do, they will develop what they will develop.

23, and that's old in comparison to the bulk of today's gamers.
False. show me the statistics.

Wow B'Arts; that's very Zen. ;) But you have a point.
The hardest part is going to be all the waiting through all the rumors & speculation til EM releases T4. This is another one of those times when I wish I could hit 'Fast Forward'.

Ha! I am most definitely an old taffer - 23, and that's old in comparison to the bulk of today's gamers.
You really think so? I know you're new here, the ages on this forum run the gamut. The oldest around here is in their 70's.
Dia, thats why so many of these threads, pure speculation, no do it this way, NO its this way damn it. I've got wish lists. I can't and won't read them all. We've been there before. Sorry I get bored with that. We have FM's to play while we wait. Hell it would be better to not know at all, then one day,
*BAM*!.....cue batman sounds ZAP! Holy crap forum, guess what, we've got us a new Thief game to play!
YuSeF on 20/5/2009 at 15:58
Thought so. more whiner propaganda dispelled.

Let's see, I'm close to 21 and I cannot consider me as 'old', but... what's an 'oldtaffer'?
I first played TDP demo when I was 12, and I've been playing TDP and TMA since then. I prefer to consider an 'oldtaffer' it like that, someone who played since the beggining, someone who consider TDP and TMA as the boiling point.
Of course TDS had better graphics, but as we know, the mood, the ambience and the depth of the argument was way better in the first ones. I think Thi4f should be based on these, but, as said before, it must be something new.

Ok let me explain - i have been lurking here long before i registered, but that's besides the point. I made this thread *knowing* you guys would be of the older generation gamers and long-time thief fans...
I am not whining as YuSeF suggested, but you should go and *see* what kind of stuff is being proposed by the Assasin's Creed fanboys over at the Eidos forums.. Headshot movies? Jumping from tall buildings in haystacks below? WHAT?
This was a call for those who have been long time thief fans (that's an oldtaffer, not someone who is necessarily older than 25, actual age is not as relevant), to go and give eloquent and educated opinions on the official forums.
Also, I am not saying that everyone, who started with TDS is automatically a whiny 12 year old. Some actually do see what's wrong with TDS when compared to the first two games. *Most* of them however, do not.
The bulk of today's gamers are in the range of 13-20, in this forum the age goes up but that's HERE only. See all the kiddies playing wow and need for speed? These are the ones that are buying the most games. If you don't believe me you can do some research, this is off topic imo.

I don't think many of us have the time or the resources to start a study on average age of gamers, but if you look really closely Myth, you'll notice there are some links provided in this thread.
