Elevator hint :
The button you need to hit is the nearest one - that is the most easterly one. As I recall aim the bowsight a bit lower as there is less drop pointing down compared to horizontal. If I get a chance I'll check and get an exact sight and come back [EDIT] It's more centred than I thought. I have put a screenshot (
http://www.jumbery.com/TEMP/ButSight.jpg) HERE so you can see exactly how to line up on it.
is there some clue that it has been activated? I keep going down to check, and then back up to try again - I can't get it to work!

MrMunkeepants : The buttons are set into the right side of a metal unit. Just to the left of the buttons you might just see a silvery metal unit immersed in water. Looks almost like a sink unit. That silvery metal unit is the ammo elevator. There should also be a red explosives barrel stood on the elevator on Expert and Director's Cut difficulties (but not on Hard.) If you hit the button right then that silvery unit should descend below the water along with the barrel if any. It is silent. You should only hear the metallic sound of the arrow hitting the button. I've sometimes missed the button and had to try 2 or 3 arrows (there are several in the nearby footlocker) but I've never known the button to fail.
If it cannot be made to work there may be an alternate way to get in. I've never done this but other players have somehow drawn the guard out of the munitions door (the one near the display room window where the gold shield is displayed. They then have slipped inside while the guard was distracted. Presumably they doused the torch above that door first and jumped up and down or used a noisemaker arrow or threw a block against the door.
If you do get in that way then try the button to see if it is faulty. I would like to know as I have never known it fail. It's just a normal elevator/button setup.
[EDIT Just check you are lining up the bow site as in my image above and that you are fully extending the zoom of the bow before release?

I have in view of
I did not used the white glove in inventory to tell her when to walk and when to stop. I have wake her near gatehouse. Not in garden. And she also opens door. This easier, than use the white glove. This is not provided, this is bug? Sorry for my English.

Finished part 1. Really innovative and interesting mission. Thanks Fidcal!!
Not a FM for people who hate jumping puzzles, though, eh? Those bloody broken ladders required a lot of patience and bobbing up and down on bits of wobbly masonry.
I was a bit gutted when I lost all those lovely moss arrows I'd been saving when I entered part 2, but I guess that's a limitation of the Dark Engine.
The objectives that immediately got crossed off as soon as I gained them:
(Milly and the Pearl)
were quite off-putting. I thought I'd screwed up the latter objective by collecting the rope arrow next to the note. I reverted to an earlier save and spent ages arsing about on that rope until I checked the thread and realised I didn't need to worry about it just yet.

Please help me before I scream...
Ok...to get the nurse to help Gwen, I need the book, but to get the book, I need the gatehouse key...but to get the gatehouse key I need to help Gwen? What?! I do NOT get this.
I tried using the smelling salts and the glove to bring Gwen to the stairwell room past the kitchen...she won't follow me down the low corridor behind the removable grate. I tried carrying her while still unconscious to the same room...all I got was an irate guard. I'm at a total loss now.
You don't need to help Gwen to
get the gatehouse key
More spoilage:
Gwen HAS the gatehouse key
Even more spoilage:
Lead her to the East gatehouse and she will open it for you. THEN you can help her with the nurse etc.
Ok...
From what I understand, the east gatehouse is either the room beyond the locked gate in the room beyond the kitchen (where there is a spiral staircase beyond a locked gate guarded by an elite guard with a frobbable grate leading to a new area), or else the locked room beyond the barred double doors (which is beyond the aforementioned frobbable grate leading to a new area). I don't know which. What I'm saying is, I have tried leading AND carrying Gwen to the locked gate...when I lead her, she doesn't open it, when I carry her the guard kills me. I have tried leading AND carrying Gwen to the double doors...when I lead her, she won't go down the corridor behind the frobbable grate, when I carry her the guard kills me. If this is not sufficient to explain the problem I'm having then I'm just going to give up and use the level skip cheat.
Can u get into the bellfrey above where Jack left the equipment in the old tower? If so, how? I am on the beam. Tried shooting rope arrows. How?
Found it. Gosh. This has to be the hardest FM I've ever played. Now I am trying to mantle up the kitchen shed roof to get to the drain pipe. Started off on director's cut. Played an hour. Started over on Expert. Played an hour. Started over again on hard. Never saw an FM I couldn't play on expert. This is so tough I may cash in my chips soon. Got to be more reward for so much effort. Way too tough in my opinion.
