I used the oil then
I followed tinkerbells instructions and got the little rat man to take out the skeleton( i hid in the shadows) but now they are both gone and i am stuck beside a gold lock which i think opens the drawbridge) but no key. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
maloo The rat man (Quiffly) should have unlocked the lock and lowered the drawbridge before he fought the skeleton. Since he didn't, squeeze back past the round gold stone to the spider web and climb to the very top where there's a watery layer. Check the edges carefully and you'll find a small key. That will unlock the lock and lower the bridge.

Why was that key there anyway?
Was it placed there after finding out that, that scene doesn't always work 100%? It's a good job that it is there, otherwise some of us would have been stuck!
Alot of thought has definately gone into these missions. :thumb:

Oil? We don't see no stinking oil.
Seriously, I've run over the closet upstairs, the astrologer's room (with that banner I can't seem to open but clearly has something behind it -- hell, I could cut everything but the one banner), the book room, whatshisname's room (with the golden egg), the throne room, and everything between the stairwell and the East Gatehouse with a fine-toothed comb, but I can't find any oil. The closest thing I've found is that clear bottle on a crate just inside the door of the East Gatehouse, but I can't frob it.

EarthQuakeDamage:
Crouch, lean forward, gaze deeply into the crystal ball.
EarthquakeDamage on 30/1/2007 at 19:25
Ohhh! I'd spent a couple minutes crouching and circling it, looking through banners and such (if you look through one object with alpha channels or whatever, other such objects don't render). Didn't realize I was literally supposed to just stare down into it. Furthermore, the inscription mentioned the "hidden by time" thing, so when I found the key behind the clock I figured I was done with the ball.

EarthquakeDamage
Yes it's sneaky. You literally have to gaze deep that's all. The 'hidden by time just refers to the time out before it is hidden again. The 'hidden by the clock' is a sneaky red herring!
