[SPOILER]I did what you are saying but I was faceing him. (looking tword his door with cheese in front of me, him out of course) Are you saying I have to break out the cheese and face away from his door down the hall ?

LightningLine : [spoiler]He will not lead the way (in the sense of guiding you) but only light the way so the player needs to work out which way to go (which is along the side passage opposite the wall niche where the offering bowl was. The story texts indicate that it is you the player who has to prove himself worthy and that the ratman will not offer any more help than is described in the various texts[/spoiler]

Lightningline you have to do this
[SPOILER]once sand is done pouring put cheese on sand,then just sit back and watch what happends,once cheese then falls off pick it up and with it active in center screen walk to the skelton guy horus i think his name is and the little guy will do the rest[/SPOILER]

Just to expand on the 2 previous posts - this confused me for a long time during testing! The best method is:
Hold the cheese out in front of you. Quiffly will walk ahead of you in the direction that you are looking - don't look down, that will confuse him.

Yorad : Follow the instructions on the crystal ball
More specifically crouch, lean forward, and gaze deeply into the crystal ball

Can somebody please point me to the "blue round tile" I must remove to get at the anti-gas switch?
I'm in the room with the Book; I've been through the fan sequence and gotten in the location that leads to; I've followed the wire (I looted the place but didn't then have the oil, and I hadn't turned off the gas yet).
I think that's the next task... but I need the blue tile first, and I don't even know what readable mentions it; I've only seen it mentioned here.

Dafydd : Search around the cabinet with the glass dome. You should hear an audible clue (on Hard anyway) about following the gas pipe. The readable is in the next room to it behind the chair next to the statue. Push the chair to one side.
