Fidcal...thank you for answering so quickly.:)
And , with your help , I made it !!!:D :D
I didn't even see the broken window before ( but love the misty
atmosphere ). Now, I have to try to forget all the hints I've
read about !!!...........and search on my own .
Thanks again....:)
I find it hard to believe that this is your first mission.

I went through the swamp caves and cant find the way to the final level. Just leadges and a few windows, only one opens , at an angle. Not enough to get in.
Any suggestions ???

Lightningline: It is possible to mantle into that window, but if you find it difficult (like me) then climb onto the pipe above it and drop onto the open window.

Wow. Thief meets Half-Life! That was much less frustrating than pt 2. Very different.
I loved the continuity - when I reached
Durdage's body at the end of the storm drain, I could hear that stupid burrick still moaning away on the road overhead.
Nice.
Dia: There is a fast way out of that hell-hole. The
exit ramp mentioned previously is lit up a different colour to the murky greens and blacks of the swamp. Just head for that and dodge the zombies. And spiders. And those BLOODY FROGS. On Expert I managed to run straight through for that river without taking any damage.
A wise thief knows when it's time to lurk in the shadows, time to wreak havoc, and time to leg it. This area definitely warrants the latter.

gorice : yes, that is definitely an option who don't like that place - you can get the big loot that way too but I don't know if you saw it. Much more fun to ghost it IMO. :thumb:

All right, got the rope arrow. Playing on expert.
Now tell me in big block letters how I'm supposed to get through the whirlpool. Don't be coy.
Fidcal on 3/2/2007 at 13:56
Ronnie Alme : OK, there are three ways: the scary way and the other scary way, and the crazy way...
First walk round to the right close to the edge and see if you can see the lever. The zoom helps. This gives you an idea what you are aiming at. Scared yet? OK, two ways to rope down. Crouch to the left (south) of the bent pipe south of the wooden bridge and aim your rope at the side plank a foot or two from the main bridge (estimate just above where you saw the lever. Save is best before trying your one rope and NEVER save once you are on the rope as you might not get back up! Then just run to it and you should fall straight on your rope. The other scary way is climb down onto the big orange outlet pipe and shoot the rope into the other side of the bridge. You can see the lever much better there but need to keep your balance and I found it a bit harder. The crazy way is just to jump for the lever without the rope! Good luck. The lever opens a hatch and puts on a light far below. Hold your breath!
Great.
I managed to flip the lever (about 1 try in 30, btw) and I floated down the whirlpool, through the open hatch, and into a water-filled passage. There's a gate blocking the way and a little room above with a ladder to a hatch that is closed. I used flares to check the area, and I didn't see any switches that did anything. Of course I didn't save.
What am I missing? Again, I want big block letters.
BTW, you could have made the rope / lever combo much, much easier. Quite a few times I have managed to jump onto the rope and climb down to where the lever was right in front of me, but I couldn't frob it because, once again, of the strange frobbing distance settings that you've used in these missions. I have run out of patience. In future missions, I hope you take to heart that it's fine to challenge players, but it sucks to annoy them.
If I ever get to the fourth mission, I'm bringing out the sword and I'm leaving the bodies in the open.
Ronnie Alme :
There is a rotary switch located in a recess behind one of the higher rungs of the ladder. You have to make sure that the whirlpool hatch is closed behind you though.
I regret that what some find enjoyable, others find annoying. I wish it were not so. I would not put in anything deliberately to annoy anyone. I find that roping down enjoyable, exciting, challenging. To have that part made easy would not satisfy me. So this is my dilemma for the future. And I do not know the answer.
