Thought I'd offer a plug:

The 31st is a Halloween-themed game about a fire fighter who gets pulled into an experimental machine while battling a blaze at MGL Labs and then finds himself in a strange world containing seemingly endless hordes of blood-thirsty monsters. A cast of characters straight out of a haunted mansion is combined with liberal doses of humor to make this game feel like Serious Sam just met the Army of Darkness.
New game coming out this October, Part 1 of a 3 part game. Not sure if its supposed to be episodic or a 2 sequel.... er. But its available for pre-order now for 10 bucks.
The devloper of this game is actually a company that makes a middleware game engine along the same vein as Torque and Unity, and I wont get into the debate about which is better or what should be compared to what, but I'm excited about this.
The C4 engine is my engine of choice for the project's I'm working on so I'm excited to see a full fledged FPS made out of it.
You can already play a demo of it, although it's not really a game demo so much as a tech demo for the engine. I'm sure the actual game will be a helluva lot more polished but its got some great elements that remind me of good stupid fun like Painkiller and Serious Sam. There are actually witches that throw cats at you.
Check out the Demo here: (

The CEO / Lead Programmer worked on a couple of big titles like Quest for Glory V and Resistance: Fall of man. I'm gonna grab my own pre-order to help them get going. (on top of buying a couple of seats for the engine itself)
Might not be everyone's cup 'o tea, but I'm sure there are a few SS fans out there that will love this.

thanks for that. looks like pure, honest fun. I was sold when I saw the flying cats. For 7,25 euros I did not have to think about it for a long time. They got my money

It seems to play like Deadhunt with upgraded graphics, IMO.

Oh Ive seen that exact video! Except it was a few months ago and a tech demo for an engine. Looks like they decided to make a full game out of it, huh. Seems it'll be pankiller/serious sam esque. Not my cup of tea but good luck to them!

Another C4 user on the forums! Crazy.
The version of the game that comes with the demo is pretty damn fun already, I think. Should be well worth the $10 for sure. Too bad the art feels kind of bland atm.

What is The 31st?

Anyway, I am up for it. I never played Resistance: Fall of Man, any game that (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controversy_over_the_usage_of_Manchester_Cathedral_in_Resistance:_Fall_of_Man) pisses off the Church of England is alright in my book. No, but seriously when I get a PS3 the 2 Resistance games are insta-buys.
I mean, the guy seemingly has chops and a seemingly great (though familiar) idea. Here's hoping it sees the light of day and is as ambitious and polished as he is hoping.

Well I think the idea is to develop a game within their own engine as a way to find out more ways to improve the engine, Which I'm definitely okay with. It's obviously going to be mindless and paying attention to the plot is probably going to hurt your head. But I don't think they're bothering with a publisher, and most of their revenue comes from new engine licensees, so they should be able to do whatever they want.

Update, some new animations. It's interesting to hear about how they're doing with their development. Terathon is a bunch of programmers rather than a bunch of artists with one or two programmers, so the process must be quite different than most studios.
