Well, Islam and Christianity u
sed to be heavily involved in the evolving technology of architecture, as evidenced by the Dome of the Rock, The Vatican, etc.
Not so much now, though. But still... credit where it is due.
That was in the time when they thought they were still really right about their beliefs. The Hindus in ancient India came up with modern mathematics, whihc was later adopted by Islam and given the name "Algebra". When religion didn't yet know that science and technological progress could actually disprove their beliefs, the religions really were interested in the evolution of technology. What they didn't see at first was that science could overthrow them by presenting the actual truth, which would stop the money flow from the pockets of the poor people to the palaces of clergy. They knew that all that they preach was bullshit so they needed to silence the scientists that were speaking the truth in order to stay in power.

From what I've read the ancient greeks came up with a fair amount of mathmatics themselves. As for science 'overthrowing' religious belief, please stop listening to Richard Dawkins-science can tell us much about the physical realm of existence, but has no basis on which to make metaphysical judgements. Also many religious believers have been great scientists as well so the idea that science and faith are always at odds is a false idea. Check out some of the lectures at the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion (

Stop turning this into yet another sense lacking pseudoreligious-pseudoscientific dispute. NOW. Noone needs more of these, plus the main subject of this thread is a cult of fanatics rather than people willing to discuss anything, so any kind of argumentation just doesn't fit.
Platinumoxicity on 11/8/2010 at 12:13
Right. I have nothing against starting a cult for teh lulz. :p like the Pastafarians did.
Physical beings have no real reason to discuss metaphysical aspects of exitence. That's why philosophy is a very closed area of expertese, that has many nice arguments and they like to share their ideas with other philosophers, but they admit that their arguments have absolutely no bearing on what's actually happening in the physical world. Religion is different because the religious insist that some of the metaphysical stuff influences the physical world, which as far as we know is impossible. Except the parody religions.

I don't take orders from you, so don't speak to me that way again.:nono: There was some serious misconceptions being tossed around and I simply provided some information to correct them-no flames were thrown, no insults were given so there's no reason to overreact.
However in my time here, I've noticed rational discussion and sane people are rather unwelcome in these parts, so I won't trouble you in this thread or forum anymore.

Must all fun threads be fucked up by a couple of retards?
Take your arguments elsewhere, for dissent within the ranks of our Order is displeasing in the eyes of the Builder.
I glady answer any questions regarding my opinion if asked in a PM, but not here.
Platinumoxicity on 11/8/2010 at 12:54
How will thine order be handling the proscecution of those who dare violate thine tenets? Making the thieves eat the tongues of the liars and the liars eat the hands of the thieves? Surely that can't be legal? :)

@up
Concerning eating tongues, thou shalt not mention judging the wretched e-speech as they say, for it may bring doom upon us both. Legal issues shalt not stop Builder's will, nor shalt they stop them followers from fulfilling it. Beware, friend.

Not yet. That's why I wanted to interrupt before it spreads out - such discussions tend to get out of control very easily, and we don't need another flame war, do we? Especially a completely pointless one.
My reaction might've been a bit too harsh, that's right. Sorry about that. :p

Now, brethren: who wisheth to join our ranks? Consider thy choice well.
Platinumoxicity on 11/8/2010 at 19:53
I dare not join, for thine order has a strict "brethren prior to wenches" (Bros b4 hos) -policy and I can't stand misogyny. ...Or are you going to alter the rules? :cheeky:
