Finally finished...and I must say, these FM's are a lot of fun. This one in particular was nasty because I had to correctly pick and choose who to club and who to sneak by. The final stretch was me making a run for it and picking my last club victim as that obnoxious guard with the fire arrow. I just let the guy with the sword chase me around until the drawbridge completely lowered :)
Also, I should point out that if it wasn't for this thread, I'd be working this map for another week minimum, which is my way of saying thank you to everyone who helped.

I'm nearly finished. Do I need a key to get out the gate by the kitchen or maybe I need to have the full quota of loot by then?

Perhaps....there ARE 2 exits. But the one you're referring to has a message tacked on the wall saying, if I recall right, that the lock is broken. You can try it, but you'll have to club a guard.
I went for the main exit. I had 3 clubs left, so I quick saved and clubbed the guard with the bow and dashed for it. It wasn't straight forward, but eventually I succeeded. Be sure to do the same. A practice run will clarify what you have to do.
You don't have 1700 loot yet ? Did you realize there were two potted plants that had value, where normally they are just decorations. They are in the room beside the basement access, on the east wing main floor. How about the gem in the pool on the second floor. It's hard to see. It's also hard to see the ring in the chapel, but there was a message that alluded to it somewhere. There are two bottles of wine with value in the wine cellar guarded by 2 very drunk guards. Thats difficult to get. I used the sand arrow on one of them, and dashed to retrieve the loot while the other was "preoccupied".
btw...there were 3 doors that I never could open. One is next to the room with the two master alarm switches and the other two were on the second floor in the main hall; one on the east side and one on the west side. They are both beside two doors that DO open and lead to the upper floor areas. Wait....there are two MORE that I didn't bother with. You'll see them when you make your exit.

How you exit depends on the difficulty level you are playing on. On Easy, you go out the back gate, not far from the kitchen, but you have to find the key first. On Hard and Expert, you go out the front gate, which is considerable harder. You need to find the battlements key for that one. It is probably the key you need Clock, because it sounds like the doors you haven't opened are probably the battlements doors. :)
As for loot, I've found most of it. I don't think I ever picked up those plants, Clock, so that may be what I'm missing. If you still find yourself short, Daisy, e-mail me and I'll send you a loot list. :)

A battlements key ? I already completed the level without a battlements key. There was nothing locked for me at the exit. Those double doors opened naturally. I exited out the double doors on the main floor. They were guarded by 2 guys, one with a bow. The doors were unlocked. But inside there were 2 small doors, right and left, which were locked. I went straight out the second set of double doors to the outside and encountered two more guards, one with a fire bow. I won't go into details, but I had to do this about 4 times before I completed things.
Now, maybe another way out is through those second story single east and west doors that WERE locked and may require a battlements key. If so, do you know where the key is? I'm playing on "expert" level.
I was doing some interior decorating when I found out the value of those shrub plant thingys. If you walk up to them, each on a corner table diagonal from one other, they have a "gold" lustre.
I didn't bother to pick up the loot from the room with the master alarm switches. There was a bored guard in there and I was afraid to waste a club on him.
Nightwalker on 3/4/2002 at 17:38
The battlements key is in the room with the "bored guard", I think. If that's the room right off of the practice room that is. It should be hanging on a wall rack. I've never gone out the front doors themselves, so I didn't know that they didn't require a key.
I haven't been able to find the plants, though. Either I picked them up before, which I doubt because they're not on my loot list, or I'm looking in the wrong place. Could you give me more specifics about which room it is? :)

Start at the stairwell to the basement with the portal. As you climb the stairs, you see the double doors leading to the garden. Turn right and start to head down that hallway (east) but then turn right again, almost immediately and go through that door. The pathway is carpeted.
The room you enter is rather large and has a colorful painting on the far east wall, hanging over a firplace.
Now I made a mistake on my previous post. I had said the corner tables were diagonal, but they aren't. They are on the same side. That would be the side opposite where you entered. If you look kitty-corner from where you enter the room, you will see another door which leads to the main hall. One of the corner tables containing a vase is right there.

With regards to the keys...that is all straigtened out for me now. I needed to get the armory key in order to get into the armory room. That key was on a guard in the practicing room. The armory was one of the locked doors I couldn't enter. Now in the armory room was the Battlesment key, which opened the two single doors in the main hall on the second floor. They led outdoors, but I could only get as far as the other side of the canal. The gate wouldn't open for me. So it looks like there are a couple of ways of making for the city streets. One I KNOW works, the other might require some finese.

Thanks for the excellent directions, Clock. I had already picked them up. In my notes, they're just written down as gold vases, because that's what shows up in your loot total picture when you pick them up. Darn! I was hoping that's what I was missing. I don't usually worry about having all the loot, because I'm not all that good at finding it, but I'm only 45g. short on this one. I guess I'll have to go back and have a look sometime when I have time. :)

45g ?
Did you grab the gem in the pool on the second floor ?
