Hints, huh?
I don't think I can hint for the Treasury code. I'll hide it here:
3241
so you don't see it, unless you really want to.
You DO need to find a key for those doors. I won't tell you where unless you really get stuck.
This is a great mission, isn't it? :)

Well, you know I've given up on levels when I just want answers; please tell me where the key is to those doors I can't yet open:(.
What really annoyed me about this level is that I ALREADY got the Seal before even getting the objective (in the Treasury)! Sigh . . . oh well. I really appreciate the help.
Thanks :),

The key you need is called the
battlements key. There is a practice room and off of the practice room, there's a sort of guards social room. Either the guard is wearing the key, or it's hanging on a rack on the wall. I can't remember which, but I know it's one of them. :)
Hm. I'm stuck with "Order of the Vine" too. I'm playing on normal difficulty level, and have done a good job of clearing out the mansion except for the master bedroom - the doors to which I cannot open. Which key am I missing? I have many, but none work on either of the master bedroom's sets of double doors.
I did try looking up from the garden, in case the way in was through a window. That would have been classy. But it doesn't seem to be the case.
Thanks in advance for your help...

You need the key to the Master's bedroom. There is a copy of it sitting on the desk in Horten's room, which is on the second floor(That's where it is on Expert, but I'm pretty sure it's in the same place on Normal). His room is close to the top of one of the spiral stairs that lead up from the lower floor. :)

Duh. I had forgotten about that doorway somehow. Thanks.
Now I'm stuck again. I've gone back and tried to be thorough (even cleaning out the armory - arg, I suck at flash bombs) but I still need help.
I know I'm looking for a gold key which is supposedly in the Master's room. And a head, which is -- somewhere. There's a safe in the Master's room which I assume has at least one of these items. But I can't open the safe. I thought, perhaps the gold key is FOR the safe, and is hidden atop a bookshelf or rafter -- nope. Sigh.
And, goodness the windows in this place are sturdy! I can't break the one in the Master's room, or the one in the dining room.

Search the shelves on the opposite side of the room from the safe for a frobbable book. :)
CarpeNoctum on 20/7/2002 at 23:38
Ah. How could I have missed that? I do know, actually. I tend to think of bookshelves as "painted surfaces" instead of "items", being to firmly categorical in my mind. And looking for frobbable books in that one large library in TMA was so frustrating that I probably subconsciously wish there aren't more frobbable books anywhere.
However, getting into the safe didn't really unstick me. I know I'm looking for a head, still. And a basement. And a place to use 3 ancient keys.
The mansion seems to have two basements: the wine cellar and the central storeroom. Neither seem to have odd keyholes. Neither does any place else. The only thing that seems a possibility for the head is the dining room statue -- that would be a good place to store a head, gloating that it is in full view and no one suspects the truth. But that statue is inaccessible, behind unbreakable glass.
...
(As an aside, who's the fellow on the room in the topsy-turvy room? I assume it is Horten, but cannot check. Or might it be the former head guard?)
Nightwalker on 21/7/2002 at 03:28
The guy in the topsy turvey room is Giblen.
Now that you have the Ancient Gold Key, you can get the head.
It IS in the dining room, but not behind the glass. There's a pyramid on display at the other end of the room. Use the gold key to unlock it.
Once you have the head, go to the basement across from the garden door. Walk straight across from the door to the far wall, then look to your left for a lever. :)

Thanks again.
The "Lord of the Flies" in the topsy-turvy room is Gilben. I know that because Mr. Amrstrong politely puts corpses names below their pictorial image when you pick them up. But there's a second person in the room, up on the roof beside a table with a letter on it. I can't pick him up to identify him.
Unlock that? I was curious because it does have a key-image at its top instead of an all-seeing-eye, but it seemed unfrobbable since neither that image nor the rest of it highlit. Very well...
