Yes.
Have the project files been released in some way, or is the policy to keep everything from being released (even in an anonymous way to, say, torrent trackers or Usenet) until such time that Eidos makes some sort of declaration?
I've been working on getting the source to a compile-able state myself to start work on my own projects and it's turning out to be quite a chore. Just getting something that compiles would be enormously helpful.

Naw. If they want in, they just gotta ask first and have some qualifications.
That is not entirely accurate.

Nothing is being publicly released at this time.

That's why I typed other words listing conditions. And if you're going to be corrective, why didn't you say what I missed?
NV, have those other coders ever stated why this project interests them more than TDM? The cheap shot would be the underestimation of people who really don't want to buy Doom 3, but maybe other reasons, like unleashed fascination with legacy code, had something to do with it. :erm:

My fascination is simple: thief is my number one game. Nothing else compares to it. I've been asking for the damn source since god know when.. ask Lulu and Harvey ;)... And so it stand to reason that I would like to see the source re-compiled and working.. and then worked on... Improved... crappy-eidos blessing or not... :weird:

I really don't buy the whole "not wanting to purchase Doom 3" idea. The game has been around for an eternity now. Doom 3 can be had for under $10. I think some of these people are just very attached to T1/T2. It is the same thing with classic Doom. It isn't that TDM is bad or anything, these people are just crazy about T1/2, the way the classic Doom fans are crazy about Doom.

I'm sure there are any number of reasons. Perhaps creating a Thief-like experience just wasn't interesting to them, since it wasn't the real thing. Being opposed to buying doom 3 could be a reason. The thrill of being able to help resurrect the classic code.

Seriously, what's with all the complaints on TDM, and peoples still saying they don't wanna buy Doom 3 to play it? It is, first of all, wasting reading time we could be spending on the official topic at hand, and second, did I mention you are wasting our time? (People's complaining about TDM. Not you, NH! :thumb:)
Of course we have no real idea what is happening as of now. It's either some elaborate scheme to keep things progressing until we all go mad, or maybe we've became (

But I really want to know from someone, somewhere, who has a clue... What is the lowdown as of now? Who is our secret hero? And if there isn't one, can he (the real slim shady) please stand up? Are we really going to say that the impending copyright issues weighing against us, have made alot of guys scared shitless?

And those were words I read and understood, even though I omitted them in the quote.
Frankly, I can't really elaborate any further without stepping on anyone's toes, and I don't intend to do that here. So, my comment will just have to stand as it is for now, without any further clarification.

I so hope that isn't a reason some people choose not to support TDM. It's understandable that some people don't like Doom 3, and don't want to buy it because it's not their type of game and/or it sucked to them.
That doesn't matter. Even if you totally hated the game, you can still think of it as supporting Id. The company that makes easy to mod engines that are so clean, they can compile on anything that has enough power to run them. The company who eventually releases the source codes to these fancy engines, which gives whole generations of budding programmers and game designers a good base to start from.
Comeon. You can hate dumb shooters all you want, but they still deserve your 10 bucks simply because of what they do for their fans.

Well, we don't really know what is going on with Eidos. No news from them, although we've been told to ask again in, I think Viktoria on the Eidos forums said April.
Until then...
