Thanks, but uh, is it considered too trivial in any impending court case, that I be clued in on whose working on this in private (or have I idiotically jumped over the hints)? I'm not a tattle-tale. :cheeky:

Well, there are the few stars at the core, others who chip in when they can or who zero in on specific things, and a lot of dabblers, but their identities aren't important except for credit when the work is incorporated into something eventually.
No one's scared or freaked out, and caution isn't necessarily negative, and respect isn't necessarily fear.

So... I guess that's a "No! We'll let the cat outta the bag when we're legally safe!"
Gotcha! :joke: :thumb:

Why should it be important to you to know? Just curious?

Not quite. The recklessness of careless, spiteful, or stupid people is the real threat.

Is that what Albert is?

There are certainly some people on TTLG who love to stir up as large a commotion as they possibly can on any minor issue, who would be all over any release of source code or information about the source code, shouting about how it might be technically illegal and doing far more harm than good by drawing attention to the topic and having idiotic discussions instead of just being sensible and keeping things quiet.
The longer such people can be kept away, the better.

I don't think so. Maybe its you.

wonderfield, you seem to think we know who you are, otherwise you wouldn't disagree with my list where I state no one knowing who an applicant is as a possible reason for not being invited. You have since seemed to disagree that attitude is a factor. Who here or at another Thief-related forum knows you, and why do you believe your posts in this thread are non-factors?

Until there is an official statement of approval, the code must respectfully be worked on in private....with no public releases.
You know, it's very possible Eidos could be taking a wait and see approach to the source code situation. They might want to see the results of the first patch before making their final decision. See if spurs piracy, or damages the IP in any way. If it does, then they'll start dropping C&Ds on everyone.
Course it won't. It'd end up being quite the opposite, in fact. Drawing attention to the series, which'll be good for Thief 4, and driving new people out to buy a copy of this neat old game they hadn't heard about before. But with them biding their time before responding to us, and the programmers erring on the side of caution, we might end up with a stalemate that'll last for a good long while yet.
