lol, thanks.
(This post would make more sense in context if it weren't stuck out here all alone on a page of its own.)
(Then again, probably not.)

Well as it's you dearest, I did take the trouble to turn back a page and you're quite right, it still doesn't make sense.

See...these things are always better in context.

Has anyone thought of brokering a deal with Eidos? Something along the lines of the community will get the dark engine working for Thief 1 and 2 to work on everything up to Windows 7 - out of the box - and give that to Eidos so they can re-release the games as 'genuinely working on all current OSes' on the condition that the community can keep the source and develop mods and missions and be able to port to MAC/Linux. This will also mean that the community can't have the assets per se but can create asset updates to allow for better resolution textures, higher polygon models, etc. subject to the gamer already owning the original.
Or am I talking crap? :)

We've yet to hear anything back from them in over a year. All communication is one-sided.

Yeah, it's a shame some corporations can be great but others so narrow minded about it all. :(

Did we at all confirm that the source even exists?
Did anyoen try to contact Chris Carollo or Doug Church (both worked on THIEF) at VALVe?

Everyone was contacted. We're past that point since over a year ago. It's all in this very thread. The legal department is sitting on it. Last September was interesting, last November was hopeful, but we still haven't gotten word back from the legal department. Please read through the thread, starting with the updated first post.:thumb:

The source code was given to Eidos over a year ago...14 months ago I believe. Apparently the eidos lawyers are 'working' on it.

Taffin' a!
I'm pretty hopeful now!
I know we didn't get anything yet, etc, but why not include System Shock 2 in there as well? I mean, it's a request for the darkengine source code, and SS2 has netcode we'd like.
AFAIK SS2 and T2 were developed in parallel and althought the engine is the same, it's not 'interchangeable' -right?
