If the source code still exists, it would be a miracle. Short of a mob of Thief fans storming the offices where such old files are kept, I don't think anyone else is going to put much effort into finding this source code.

That's it. I've had all I can stand of this...
I've got five bucks I'll give 'em. You hear that, Square Enix, FIVE BUCKS. Pony up the goods, or you'll never see money like again.

Yes!
We've even offered to pay for a download! They'd make a thousand bucks in the first month! How much would it cost to send a guy in to scrounge in the warehouses, I wonder?

Guys, are you serious?! If yes, then what about a private detective hiring? I'm not kidding because I would pay him for 5 or even 10 bucks.

I have a simple job planned for this evening... break into a guarded server room, steal another fat chunk of source code and leave quietly.
Lord Eidos is out of town and rumor has it the server admin went with him, as a bodyguard. The time is right for a bit of burglary.
The main server of Eidos is always guarded and is too exposed. But TTLG tells me there's a better server in... less updated, more exploitable.
The piece TTLG wants is a game... dark, sneaky, the usual adornments, should command a high price. Eidos, like most of their kind probably keeps their source in the /root/ directory, close to their heart, and far from userspace.
No point in waiting. I have some SSH1 exploits, and everyone who is going to be logged off already is. It's time to begin.
... um, what?

Goldmoon Dawn: Not for stealing, but legal private investigating! Why not?

They'd need something like a search warrant or need to sign legal papers to protect the company and their intellectual and other properties. They can't legally just go in and dig through stuff without the company worrying about industrial espionage. The PI would have to be escorted and watched, and the person doing that may as well just dig in boxes themselves.:cheeky:
