jtr7: I believe we can reach a thousand mark even before 2010.
Macha: Yes, I'd like to see at least one of the ex-LGS employee's signs as well.

He had no source code and remembered next to nothing about how he coded it.
That's very sad :(.
P.S. 980 signs so far.

I want to ask the hackers at the OPDE project: since we don't have the Thief 1 and/or 2 source, will the System Shock 2 source be useful for you? I mean: maybe we should ask its developer (2K Australia, former Irrational) or publisher (Electronic Arts)?
P.S. 983 signs.

It would be extremely useful. SS2 uses a backwards compatible version of dark, meaning in theory it should be able to run all dark games (at least that's what they had in mind from looking at the code).

Displacer: I'm glad to read that.
All: So, does anybody have an acquaintances at 2K Australia (former Irrational) or Electronic Arts? Should we write the similar petition about the System Shock 2 source?

I'm sort of shocked that nobody had come up with this idea for all these years.

You mean Randy Smith. Harvey Smith worked with Ion Storm Texas, not Looking Glass Studios in Boston.
Damn you Wikipedia!!!!!!!!

I beg to (

I guess the trickier deal with that might be that the company still is alive and that EA was involved with the SS2 side of things. EA's legal departement maybe being a little intimidating than others.

Was it Irrational Australia or Irrational in Boston that worked on System Shock 2?
You might have better luck with Electronic Arts since Irrational is now 2K Boston/Australia and weren't able to make System Shock 3.

Maybe, maybe not. AFAIK, SS2 was not a bestseller, so why EA should renounce of such a noble action like publication of this game's source?
New Horizon: Both of them, I guess, but I'm not sure. But what I know for sure is that the SS2's father is Ken Levine, right?
All: So, IIRC, we need somebody who knows Mr. Levine. Anybody?
P.S. 986 signs.

Levine used to post here when he was promoting Bioshock. Haven't seen much of him on here since release. As I said earlier though, if EA owns System Shock 2...there probably isn't much chance of getting that code either.
