Augh, now I know people here still think having the original code released is a much more possible reality, but can't we all just come to terms with the fact that (
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opde/) OPDE is gaining more ground than we're giving it credit for?!
Unless you all just like waiting for some guy from EM or one of the veteran LG guys to randomly pull the code from their ass.

I don't see any harm in working both angles. I'm very excited by and encouraging of Volca's project, but he has a long way to go (years of work if he gets no more help). Meanwhile, there's no harm in keeping the pressure on Eidos to keep looking for the original source. Rene said early on that EM is actively looking for it, although it's hard to imagine they have much resource to apply to that search with all they have going on.

OK OK, your right. Sorry I got a little Poe'd, I was just reading that forum on irrational and it got me to thinking how people are just so indifferent to the dark engine. To me, it is every bit as powerful as any game engine today, given that most games today are just shallow imitations of the early quake engine games.

Hm. (

I actually didn’t keep a copy of the Thief source code (or the engine, or the renderer) for myself, and I don’t know offhand if anyone else from the team did either.
It’s unfortunate–it’s really inspiring that y’all are still playing with that engine, and I know what you mean about how useful the source code would be, but I just don’t have any leads either.
Should I just give up?

I know. He told me that thing three years ago. I think I understand him - he is tired to answer everybody: "I have nothing." BTW, Kevin Wasserman and Ken Levine have nothing as well.

Hey, how about listing all the former LGS members' feedback in you first post?
MoroseTroll on 17/2/2010 at 08:14
Well...I don't have their permission to publish their private correspondence with me. Of course, I may try to get this permission... Ok, I will try.

No no no. :laff:
Post what they've said that's already been posted, like the quote clearing gave above.
Everyone who's already been asked and already responded saying they don't have it should be included. Cobak got a couple responses and posted them, for instance. Just collect what's already been said on TTLG into one place, if you wouldn't mind.
