to help the process along without pissing off Eidos and hurting our chances.
There's no way to piss of a corporate entity or its branch.
But it must be to some degree responsive to customer demand. Perhaps we could petition Eidos to include the code in some "GOODIES" folder on Thief 4 discs. (Since chances are small that Thief 4 will be made in fidelity to T1 & T2, this may be the chief incentive for the fans of the original series to buy the new installment. :))

I think you're probably wrong on that.

I think it's more advantageous to create some goodwill and release the source earlier, as opposed to releasing it with Thief4. For the average fan who only plays the games, the source code isn't doing them any good (not directly, anyway).

I know. That's what I was getting at.

Oh man, I totally agree. They officially announced the damn game almost two years ago now, and still not even a peep! We should have the game in another year or even two? If we had the code now, it would give a new shot of life into the Thief fans which would increase overall interest in the game again.

That would clear some hurdles but creates others. No more domain registration required anyway. Does TTLG want to run a dns server for this ? I suppose they probably already have one actually.
Then there is the additional bandwidth of course.
If your really going to try and push this out there it could generate a lot of traffic.

I always imagined the bow upgrade as a rapid-fire weapon, similar to a machine gun. That would be hilarious to see. I'm sure it could be done without the source code.

Sorry to express doubt (Of all people, I'm the one being doubtful), but I can't really grasp the dilemma of this discovery. Ignoring this thread for as long as I have, I must say my stubborn nature has put me in a clear rut.
Who said what to whom, about discovering the source code? Who can possibly confirm this so that I may shut up once more?
