Sent an email to RPS. Here's to hoping they cover the story.
That's actually a very good idea.

I had no idea that anyone had actually done the carting thing ! All I knew it as was a joke screenshot. We were concerned about the fact that T3 was also being done for the XBox.

Ok, it was me who have contacted that former LGS employee, but please don't ask me his/her name because I've no his/her permission to state it. The source has been transferred to Eidos Montréal at the beginning of February 2010 for sure - both Eidos Montréal employee and former LGS employee have confirmed that fact. That's all since then.
Thanks for the reply.;)

Agree.
There's no reason to try to contact whoever had it. They did their part, more than we could have dreamed for, so we've no reason to hassle them to commit a crime. It's in Eidos's hands. We just have to wait. But the only thing I'm worried about, is this happening:
Lawyers: Okay, we've cleared the dark engine source code to be open sourced!
Eidos: Yay! Let's upload and release it on the corporate website! Who has the disc with the code on it?
*Silence*
Uh... anybody? Did we lose it again? Goddamnit. Well, let's just get another copy from the former LGS employee.
Former LGS Employee: Uh... I deleted that shit guys. It was in your hands.
Everyone: !@%(&!#%(#%@
Even if that happened though, things would still be the same as the day before. Besides, Volca and his minions continue to devote their time to OPDE. If the source code is released, their knowledge and expertise in after studying the engine would be greatly beneficial to updating the Dark Engine code, or the actual source would give them a blueprint to work off of to complete OPDE.
Patience. We'll end up with either OPDE, or the Source code and OPDE. In reality, it's win/greaterwin. Just give it time.

Almost 8 months has been passed. How long should we wait?

I don't want to lower your hopes much, but... I really hope the source code of original Dark gets released. I have practically zero free time the last few months and it does not look like it'll change any time soon - so OPDE is advancing really very slowly now. I'd love to have some other programmers in the team so the project would advance even without my devotion, but so far no one lasted long enough :) Anyway with the source code, even if it would be impossible to build it, it would be a great source code and knowledge base for OPDE - that means even if renderer would be missing for example, we could use OPDE as renderer (with a great deal of rewriting to glue those together, of course).

if u start giving them idea's about reselling the game on gog.com they're going to start saying 'why the fuck should we part with the source code the game can still make money'
