I totally agree with dspair. First we should fix what is not working in current thief. Make is possible to work without ddfix. And only after that we can add some enchantments...

Um... duh?

This isn't official, lost_soul. It's a leak. So let us enjoy it for awhile, since we don't know how Eidos and Electronic Arts will feel about it. :)
Yes, leave Eidos in the dark...the way they've left us in the dark since February. They'll find out sooner or later anyway, but I'm not going out of my way to tell them anything after the way they handled having the source found for them by Morose Troll and then giving us no news for nearly a year. :(

You sound like a very very angry man.

Just imagine the possibilities that have opened up! Guess it's time for this thread to degenerate into a wish list. I'll start!
General
Multi platform versions (very likely)
Built-in FM management (possible, but low priority seeing as we have other available options)
Support for more than 3 mouse buttons (very likely)
A cure for SHAS (probably)
Renderer
High Dynamic Range Lighting (probably)
Water and texture shaders, reflections (probably, could base it on material properties such as glass, I bet)
bump mapping (likely)
Enhanced Dynamic lighting (kind of unlikely)
Finally working fog (likely)
Gameplay enhancement
Realistic Physics (unlikely, maybe slightly enhanced, but a physics rewrite would be a monumental undertaking I bet)
Rope swinging (kinda unlikely)
Cooperative multiplayer and deathmatch (Likely, seeing as there's already hacked MP functionality)
Optional regenerative health (easy to implement, but unnecessary)
Selectable ghosting options that notify you when failed (useful, and probably not too hard to implement.)
AI
AI hearing based on ambient sound - I.E. no hearing soft footsteps while a deafening generator is running. (somewhat likely)
Facial expressions (likely, since I hear a lot of the code is already there, but the artwork needs to be created)
AI heads move to follow you like in T1 (likely, can't be too hard since it's already been done, right?)
That swim (unlikely)
Climb ladders (unlikely)
Wow, that's quite the list. lol
There are two completely separate projects in that list.
Here is how I would break them up.
Core Source Code Branch:1. Get the bloody thing to compile. ;)
2. Find and fix problems preventing the game from running on modern hardware.
3. Modern screen resolution support + widescreen
4. Community fixes incorporated into source
5. Cross platform - Open Gl / Open Al
That's about it. We just want the game to be playable.
Enhanced Source Code branch.
1. Everything Else.
Your wish list is somewhat of a game changing affair. It would be an almost completely different engine with all those enhancements. It would be a cool project, but I hope it wouldn't be the primary goal of the community to add HDR and bump mapping, as that would require a couple of years to create all NEW textures. You can't just create bump maps based on the original textures, because those old textures have shadowing and details baked into them that would look completely wrong with bump mapping.

true 32bit rendering would be nice (core branch).apart from that,I agree completely.
