Guys, are you joking? Whats the point in bugfixing? All is fixed by Jeremy and co. with ddfix.
So, our number one priority is to add new features, make them working natively. Among them there should be full support for ambient occlusion, soft dynamic shadows, facial emotions and etc.

You missed the points made. There will be no need for patches like DDFix or TafferPatcher, etc., if the code itself is directly corrected, and raising hard-coded limits on things, removing caps, is more important than all new features, but even then, no one's stopping anyone from specializing in one area or another. People will do what they personally have the drive to do. There are things authors have been fighting for over ten years, and taking care of those is a no-brainer, not facial animations and the like, and some things need fixing before new features will work anyway.

Oh. My. God.
Just heard about this from /v/. I was CERTAIN it was a troll at first, I couldn't believe it. But then I came here and...
Wow. I literally jumped out of my chair in joy. We're certain this is the real deal?
Is there any grunt work non-programmers can assist with? I can't wait for the party to get started... *glances over at Freespace Open* I love what happens when a living fan community organizes around clear goals and resources.
Merry Christmas to everyone.

oh good, it's on /v/

Definitely some pretty cool stuff in here. All of it appears to be well laid out.
Just would like to note, though, that adding in OpenGL rendering is possible without having to compile the engine (exe). Just hack in your own code with a load reference to a DLL.

I'm trying it in VS2010, and it doesn't like some of the coding shortcuts you could do in VS6 (as you'd expect) since VS6 had some non-standard C++/C going on. I got rid of the "types.h" missing by removing the hard-wired X: directory calls and instead used .\scripts\rel_h. But I can't find the "dev2d.h" file, nor the "2d.h" file (although there is a "_2d.h" one)...
On a personal note, this is my first time looking at a project of this size, and it certainly makes you appreciate how difficult it is to write games!

Wow. I actually got a bit misty when I picked up on this. It's been a long time coming and I'm amazed there are still people around to get excited about it with. Can't wait to see where we go from here. :thumb:

Brian, if you're actively working on getting the thing to compile, you should add your findings and thoughts to the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134092) tech thread in TEG.

Thanks, will do. Although I think many of you are a bit more serious programmers than I am!

Yes, leave Eidos in the dark...the way they've left us in the dark since February. They'll find out sooner or later anyway, but I'm not going out of my way to tell them anything after the way they handled having the source found for them by Morose Troll and then giving us no news for nearly a year. :(
What he's trying to politely say is "fuck Eidos in their left eye. Those fuckers have continually shut us out for years over trivial bullshit that would have cost them nothing to give up (including the very source code we're discussing). TTLG has had a fair hand in keeping interest in Thief alive and they've been nothing but ungrateful assholes in return. Fuck 'em."
