Amazing

At first glance that appears to be all that was missing. I can hardly believe it.
Thanks to MoroseTroll and deep throat, whoever you are.
Now, could someone please clarify the legal issues because I'm not cut out for a life of crime.

Imagine Dark with no hard polygon limit and higher res shadow bakes. Those two features alone would be enough to change the look of Thief FMs considerably.
To some degree...But remember that portal, dark's renderer isn't a terribly scalable technology.
And in dromed we still have only basic shapes to work with, cubes, spheres, dodecahedrons, and pyramids. It's likely possible to add in functionality to create dynamic shapes and edit specific vertices, but I doubt it would be easy.
Of course, given my wish list, there's no real reason to hold back in what we hope for the future. =)
Unless the people who think the talented coders in our midst will ignore necessary bug and compatibility fixes in lieu of enhancements get increasingly agitated and violent.

I would guess that if Eidos didn't know about this before, they will know by tomorrow. Isn't there supposed to be a community relations guy somewhere around here on one of these forums?

Well, we could undergo a forum 'cleaning' where certain types of public posts get conveniently archived. I mean, this sure is an old thread. Why not lock it, copy it to an archive and take it down for a while until a more... proper online archive for such posts is deemed necessary?

AFAIK, René was the first and the last one simultaneously, who have visited TTLG.com as an Eidos CM. Of course, I've invited his successors, but seems they were never be here :(. So, if nobody of us will tell Eidos about the source...

@MoroseTroll: Thanks. Really - thanks!

Imagine a world where we would not be constrained by arbitrary limits and regulations? A very "be careful what you wish for" proposition. :)

one way or another,I would recommend purging all direct links to the code from public forums,as soon as all the devs over here have it.one can never be too careful.

In the hands of someone with enough talent and coding knowledge, it can be as scalable as it needs to be.
Granted, I doubt upping the polygon limit would be anywhere close to an easy fix, but it'd be the one thing I'd most root for on the big list of potential upgrades to the engine. It's the one feature that'd offer the most immediate advantages.

You don't really need to do that. Up the poly limit, and I assume the entity limit as well, and you could import complex shapes from your favorite 3D editor. You'd treat Dromed like you would UnrealEd. It's there to get the basic shapes down. You fill in the details with models.
But whatever. These changes can come whenever. Right now it's exciting enough to know that the Dromeders have the source code. We're gonna see some pretty interesting things over the next year.

Well, yeah. You might risk some guy throwing a bunch 60k poly pillar with all the cracks modeled in geometry into his map just because he can. But in the end, all anyone needs is a little self restraint. Which is far preferable to the current setup where the community's creativity is limited by the strict limits set in Dark.
Course you could say that those limits are one of the reasons why Dromeders are such good mappers. They've had to learn to do alot with a little. But hey. We'll see.
