Volca: That wasn't me. That was another person ;). But, if you didn't forget, I'd like to drink some famous Czech beer with you when (more precisely - if) I will visit beautiful Prague :).

wow, I hope the bags with leaks has really opened now... and it was not the last goodie we've seen leaked... looks like pandora's box's open :).. so leak, leak whatever you can/have - the more, the merrier.
it was an over 10 year drought, after all...

So you can't wait another ten years? ;)

Well, we could start a petition for the release of the source code to our beloved Thief 3 engine...
>_>
MoroseTroll on 12/12/2010 at 10:52
Well, I've asked for the Thief 3 source too, but in this case there is one big problem: as all we know, Thief 3 uses Unreal Engine 2, so we'd talk about it with Epic Games first. And if Epic Games would permit the publishing its UE2 source, then we'd ask Eidos to do it with T3. But due to the fact that Eidos still haven't published the source of T1&2, I doubt it will publish the source of T3. And, if I'm not mistaken, the Thief 3 source has been transferred to Crystal Dynamics, so, I think, this company is a primary target for asking of the Thief 3 source, not bureaucratic Eidos in a whole. So, should I start :)?

Better get going. It's been 10 years since Thief 2 was released, and we just now got the source. Thief 3 was released in 2004, and 10 years after that is 2014. That's just 4 years away before someone finds another Dreamcast dev kit with a dreamcast thief 3 beta and corresponding source code. =P

Hmm ... did I call it too soon? There are still some functions missing - two of the directories in the latest package are empty. Also env.rc, init.rc and make.rc (included by the library and game executable makefiles) are still missing.

MoroseTroll:
was the recent wikileaks massive leak an inspiration for this one ;)?
anyway, you appear to have some good connections and know the right people, so please ask your contacts if they have anything else which could be of help for us (more code, that is). As I said - the more, the merrier.
And IMO 1 thing stays very important: despite all these recent leaks, we still shouldn't neglect trying getting Eidos/Enix/whoever to *officially* release what they have, as having these bit from official source, blessed by legal departments, is important for many folks (even though leaked code might be bit-to-bit identical. but we can't be sure of that at this point). We should be in a much better/stronger "negotiating" position now, due to the recent leaks, so it should be more of a formality right now, to have more or less the same thing, but with "official", "approved by legal department" stamps and so on.
Also, let's not forget about System Shock 2, and Thief 1/Gold sources...
