Is there anything you have to do or read to trigger the conversation about the red gem?

First of all, you'll need to trigger the conversation north-east of the city.
Once you've done that, you'll need to then go to the central area of the city. (The sewer route may be the easiest way.)
In that area, you find that there are two people talking to each other. Listen to the conversation go through and you should get a new objective that deals with the red gem.

As for the last two digits,
the big clock is a 24 hour clock. The numbers are a bit weird, but you can make it out. The number I put is [spoiler]1572[/spoiler] but nothing happens. Isn't this correct? Can you please just tell me the number if not? Playing on Daring

Thank you so much. Ok another question. On mission 3 I need to find a key for the [spoiler]victrola to figure out the last 2 digits of the combination but I think I've been everywhere and cannot find it[/spoiler]

On map 2, I solved the target puzzle without understanding what I have done...the false compartment by the alarm lever opened on its own, and I shot only ONE arrow to one of the targets. Glanced over at the old thread; it should be a password puzzle which requires 4 arrows, but I cannot find any hint for it (other than the crumbled paper), as the only available readable in the library is "Three Seekers of Ocult Mask", the other one is unfrobable for me.

Read the crumbled paper carefully.
It tells you that there are some numbers in a cupboard at the basement. The numbers represent which order the targets are to be shot at.
