Hi, guys!
If I want to use a texture or an object I saw in other FM what should I do? Do I need to contact this FM's author to get permission? What if they also weren't the first to use it? Or what's worse, what if the author is no longer available and there's no way to contact them?
How do I give proper credit when the FM is done? "Textures from..." or "Textures by..." (but again, what if that FM is not the original source either?)
Just want to do everything right :)

In my opinion, do the best you can.
Most resource creators have released their creations for non-commercial use, only requesting some form of acknowledgement. Some mission authors provide lists of resources used and creators in their release notes. So reading the release notes is generally worthwhile, but not always as other authors may just acknowledge the creators without identification of the specific resources each was responsible for. If you see the resource elsewhere (say the Thief Object Repository or Dark Fate or ...), then you are home free as those resources are released to the public domain and those sites identify the creators of their resources.
Other than that, do the best you can.
