Don't feel dumb. Just slow down next FM or mission you play and consider what you have, what you see, and what you can do with the tools and information.
Actually, now I remember how I did this. My thinking was pretty damn sound. I had this idea- I might as well go straight to the doctor's and get the cure right after leaving Basso's house so that I don't have to explore the whole city twice looking for plague victims but just cure them my first time through as I see them. So I made a beeline for the doctor's house and then, when I found out the cure was holy water, my thinking changed to "Oh...well then I'll explore the cathedral now and stock up on some and THEN explore the city.".
This, people, is why logical thinking is evil and should be avoided like the plague.
Also, what's all this talk about haunts being dead? I always thought they were just hammerites with skin problems and sore throats? :weird:
And yeah, I
did get all the loot in the crypt. I'm a determined little greedy bastard.

nice work if you got all the loot in the crypts without them catching you and without "killing" any
I'll second that. I tried ghosting through there and found it so difficult to get all the loot that I finally resorted to Plan B(utcher).

it is funny thinking you "saved" thier lives.
And I bet they weren't grateful at all. This reminds me of the sword-wielding zombie I cured ... He was so grateful that he came right at me with his sword hoping to cut me through! haha...

Absolutely Fabulous!.
This is one of the few missions that I didn't mind spending the extra time exploring everything for clues and loot etc. The whole campaign was intriguing from the very start. As a result I was able to complete the campaign (minus a few secrets and loot) without consulting the forum.
It was saddening to finally find out who the black sister was. I would have much preferred to have rescued her instead of having to arrange her demise.

Ok, I've been playing night one for 8 hours now. I think that entitles me to ask: am I supposed to be able to get into the brothel and the mayor's house on the first night? There are posts from every night mixed up in this thread, and I can't tell what's what.
Mayor's house:
I found a way to rope up onto the roof, but was only able to half-pick the window there.
Brothel:
Can't find any wood to allow me to climb up onto the balconies - or any other way - and I was only able to half-pick the unbarricaded door to the left of the main entrance.
This mission suits me perfectly! I love to sneak and explore for hours. I prefer thoroughness to speed every time. And it's absolutely beautiful! Opening every door and passageway is like opening a gift.
Every objective is completed (on hard) except for going to my room. But I feel like I must be missing something obvious and don't want to go there yet. I am missing one secret, too. Is there a loot list or a secrets list anywhere?

On night one the answer is no.
You will get the rest on N2.
You can free Basso and follow him home. If you don't go in you can continue to search around. There will be a number of places you only half pick this first time around.
PM me with what you have discovered and I'll give you a hint or two if this one is not one you already have.
For one secret stand in front of the Burrick Inn and look across the canal. If you are observant, you should see something interesting.

Hi Blackman! Thanks for the reply.
I already freed Basso and followed him safely home.
I'm not sure I remember what all the Secrets were, but I think:
1. Entering clockworks shop via rope (is this what you meant across from the pub?)
2. Alternate route through street grate into area with fire and infected man
3. Secret passage to Minerva's home
4. Diary in wall in fortune teller's shop
ps: I like "Fishin' Blues"

Thanks. It's one of the weaker versions. I need to redo it and upload the new one.
Nice slide on "Been down so long". Is that you? Or should I ask which of the performers is you, the picker or the singer?
Here's one I wrote and roughed out a few weeks ago. :)
(

Redleaf. Ignore the question. Stupid me. I just did what I should have done first. Read your profile.

I said I was playing on hard. but I just learned I chose "Expert" by mistake. Hey! I can't believe I just finished a mission like this on Expert! Whooo-eeeeee!:cheeky:

I'm finding it really difficult to proceed from the start area. I've not read much except the start of this thread as I like to avoid spoilers and I'd rather solve it myself if I can so I'm resolved to persevere especially since others seem to have continued easily without help. So I'm not asking for help yet and will come back and report later if I get through (or begging for help!) so need to reply to this as I won't see it. Here's my situation (ghosting on Expert, no KOs) after 3 hours!...
Re-read clues till my eyes bled - Judge's window, Judge's daughter, Basso's shop note. Not seen any more that I recall.
Found river portcullis and Station 1. My guess is if I can find the key to Station 1 I might open the portcullis.
Scoured every inch of Basso's looking for keys, including chimney, roping up stairs ceiling, turbo room, passageways, basement stairs, shop, kitchen, etc.
Noted cat sound clue and 'come back tomorrow'
Tried frequently to jump from Judge's balcony to opposite balcony without success.
Tried a few times to jump river to window but that is way out of reach.
Tried repeatedly to climb in Basso's neightbour's open window but no way.
Half-picked doors - balcony Basso's neighbour, one sewer door near barrels.
Searched thoroughly thief's den up long stairs, vegetable store, baker's, Croner, Judge's, sewer, river.
Checked all doors out in market place, Craftmen's way, riverside, etc.
Checked every AI for pickpocket. Only one I recall is the Judge's cellar key.
Checked and rechecked map - can't see any particular clue there.
Checked Objectives again - no particular clue there I can see.
Re-reading the Readme I see some AI should highlight. I'll go round again but I somehow doubt that this will mean enemy guards etc and probably refers to some character further on. Can't see any other clues in there.
Think I've been very thorough with this but suspect it is something easy whereas I am looking for something difficult. I'll go back in check rooftops, etc to see if I can climb anywhere I missed.
