Well just finished part 1. Took me almost 5 hrs of pure taffer bliss!
This is Thief the way it should be. I enjoyed TDS, but this is far better. The whole last half of the mission I had less than 5 sheilds of health and was constantly scrounging around for a bit of food or health potions, of which there was very little of either. Made for some very tense situations. Good stuff!
Just started night 2, so I'm sure I'll be over in that thread next, although I was rather proud of myself in the fact that I only had to use this thread a couple of times. Not because I'm a good player as I'm most certainly not, just a testament to the brilliance of the level design. It really is a matter of using the ol noggin, which is so rare nowadays in any game.
Just a couple of questions.
The ships wheel in the weaponsmiths cellar. Garret said something about it when he first saw it, but can't remember what, and I can frob it but have no idea what it does. Also the objective to neutralize the sister, (BTW, can you blackjack them?), I may have missed a readable or something about this because it had me stuck for awhile. I figured it out but it was mostly luck.
Thanks.

michaelg,
You will be able to deal with the ships wheel in night 2. You just have to find the peg to put in the wheel.
You can black jack the sisters you find in town, to get their heart. The very last sister, you can't do that, you'll deal with her on night 3. The book in your inventory will give you a clue as to how to deal with her.

in the judge's basement, not the weaponsmith's.

I've just finally gotten down to playing this, and while I may be a little late to add my praise, I just wanted to commend Lady R. for an absolutely incredible mission. I can't really recall a mission pack I've enjoyed as much since Calendra's Legacy.
Were we using the rating system, I'd warrant it would rate the full 10 silver and have already been given a gold hammer.

As of a minute ago, there have been 1141 posts in three threads about The Seven Sisters. 625 on Night 1, 242 on Night 2, and 274 on Night 3. Has there ever been a greater response to any FM, indeed a more positive response?
Calendra's legacy has about half that over several years. Not to imply that post count is the best measure of mission quality, but it is certainly one measure.
Well done, Lady Rowena. :D

Maybe it's just because the missions are too difficult and the players need continuous help...:D

I disagree. The difficulty levels (on all three choices) are just right. THIEF is a think and then do game. This FM has an excellent balance of required skill level, logic puzzles, and look closely.
As for plot and eyecandy I find the little nuances -leaves blowing in the wind, food for the cat and others too numerous to mention- bringing an entirely new look and reality to the world of Thief.
I cannot praise the entire effort enough. Such care and consideration is seldom seen, even in mainstream "Pay-through -the-nose" "professional" offerings.
Well done! :thumb:
