I hope a doughnut is an important item because I picked it up early in the first day and I can neither drop, nor eat it. It just clutters my inventory ;)

Simplex, the donut you place on the plate in the monkeys cage, he will give you the key to the small lockbox in the police station. its some extra loot.
The part I cant get is on night 1, when the hammer writes there is a holy water hidden somewhere in his room in the cathedral, and in perhaps other places. I cant find any secret chambers in his room except the attic above his room where I entered. I dont find any other holy waters in the cathedral anywhere else either.

He wasn't speaking about the cathedral. That place in the cathedral is a sort of sacristy.
He was speaking of his room in the Hammerite complex, which is aside the cathedral. But maybe you already went there? :)

I have two questions to see if I am hopelessly stuck, before I play any further:
1. I blackjacked Maya (the first sister) - is it a dead end, or can I still finish the day
2. I let basso out and did not follow him to check if he gets home safe. Is there a chance he did, or was it not a good idea to let him run by himself? I let him out a while ago and the relevant objective is still not completed
Thanks in advance for help :)

1. It is not dead end, just
grab the heart, 2. To complete the objective you must visit Basso´s house.

I didn't need to go back to Basso's house, the objective completed when I was "loot-hunting" in the City.
BTW, this is the best FM's I have played! :thumb:

Thanks for advice.
I pickpocketed the heart first, then blackjacked her :)

Lady R, yes since I posted I went to the crypt which led to the hammerite complex. What confused me was I saw "crypt key" and didnt think the hammers would have rooms in the crypts. But there was of course the complex above it.
I messed up 1 part of the mission when i had the zombie which carries a sword (zombie guard), start to follow me, i was trying to get the zombies into 1 location so i can cure many at once using 1 holy water but he walked towards the security eye and the cannons killed him. Sadly I had quicksaved just before that happened and when I load I dont have time to run to him and distract him away before he gets spotted. Oh well, the objective to cure all residents is cancelled now :X
