There's two ways:
As Cerebration said, you can rope arrow up on the panelling - the upper parts of the stairway are completely carpeted.
or
As Nightwalker thought, if you're good at sneaking on tiles, there's enough room (and the guards are dim enough) that you can simply sneak past behind one or the other!
I've done both, but personally, I think the first has more style. ;)

Duh! you can tell I've not played for a while. Rope arrows it was. Great stuff.

Nightwalker, seeing as you used the BJ there, tell me, how'd you get away with it? I toyed with the idea but figured the 2nd guy would be too hard...
Cheers,
(Thinking of naming my blackjack, I love it so much :ebil: . In fact, I nearly chose "Black Jack Davey" instead of Moonshadow as my nickname)

I didn't really worry that the second guard would alert. I put a couple of moss arrows down between the guard and the door to the outside walkway, KOed the first guard and then beat it back into the shadows. The other guard searched for a bit, then settled down and then I could creep up behind him. I LOVE my BJ! :cheeky:

I roped up and on the way back gassed them both. Bit of a waste I think - but I had to get rid of them. The guards seem immune to the blackjack when on half alert in this FM.
SPOILER
I can't find the key into Saturnines room though. The objectives say they are on the servant but I've got the 3 keys from him and his girlfriend - none open the other 2 rooms on the 3rd floor.
And you two really should not be talking about Bjs. I know, I know, I'm being a perv, but I can't even bring myself to shorten blackjack because it can be taken so out of context.

Sorry but. . . honesty is the best policy. I'm blushing here :p

IIRC...
go back to the first floor....at one end of the hallway where the "museum" is there's a wood door. You couldn't open it before. It's should now be open. Explore that area (servant's area) and find Brady's/Bradly's room...what ever his name was.
EDIT I was part right. Just went back for a ghost run. You need to steal the saphire from the museum....after that you will find the door open.
Those two guards actually seem to be very deaf. I was literally jumping on the tile right behind them and they never even flinched. So I just ran up and walloped one on the noggin, THEN the other one reacted to the body, so I just dragged the body off into the shadows until the other one went back standing around, and repeated the process with him.
I'm stuck in the mission "the Seventh Crystal." I've blackjacked literally every single person in the level except the two guards out front, and whoever is left in areas I can't get to.
The Library and uh... "War Room" I think it's called, are the only areas I can't get into. I have no keys for either, nor does anyone I've taken out.
At the very top of the mansion I found a book in a gazebo with a poem in it, but if it's some sort of hint or puzzle, I didn't catch it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Bueller? Bueller?
Still stuck on this one, playing through the Night Falcon campaign until I can get some help.
