You're missing a doorway. After you go through the "Guards" door, turn through the doorway on the left before you get to the unfrobbable double metal doors. :)

Yes, I did manage to miss a whole doorway(!).
Many thanks.

yup, that rug frob was all I needed to finish the mission. Took a lot to get that out of you guys though :p
OK it's two years later but I had the same problem. For anyone else having hassles finding the crypt entrance -
Frob the rug in Saturnine's bedroom, by the bed. A lever will appear. Switch the lever and then turn around. The fireplace will have moved. This is the second attic everyone refers to up above. I was sure it was going to be accessible from the main attic. :o
It is.
I have never had to go through the fireplace to get there.

I felt so stoopid.
I kept frobbing the rug, I'd hear the sound of something shifting and then I'd race to the attic to try and find the second room entrance. Musta done it ten times before I realised the room was opening right behind me in the bedroom.
The main attic, reached off the mezzanine at the "front door", has a small niche in a back corner.
This takes you to the room where you overhear the conversation mentioned. In that attic room is a "skylight" from the library and a switch that opens the crypt entrance.
If you look down through the skylight (actually glass floor in the attic space) you see into the library and see the "Before" switch, and "after" switch appearance of the area you are looking down on.
As I mentioned, I have never needed to use the fireplace to open the crypt.

Unless I'm reading your post wrong, tBM, that's incorrect. There are 2 seperate attic areas. The first one where you overhear the converstation and the second one, which is off of Saturnine's bedroom, as CatAnita said. You frob a switch under the floor mat to move an armoire (I think it's that and not a fireplace) to get into the smaller attic room. This is the one with the window in the floor that allows you to look down into the Library.

I'll have to double check but I seem to remember going in the main attic, back to the right rear behind some obstacle, into a narrow hallway and into a room with a peek through grate to the "conversation" room (near the nursery).
In this room were the pirate artifacts, some chests and the "floor light" :) and the switch.
To my knowledge I never looked under that rug. I had fun in the nursery playing with the ball, however.

I believe Nightwalker is correct. That is to be expected.;)

Yes, in the far right is the grate you describe. But that's all. A grate and a dead end.
The pirate stuff and the all important switch are in the second part of the attic which is only reachable through the bedroom and that's where that tricky rug comes in. Trust me on this - I spent an hour I'll never get back on it. :erg:

Btw, excellent mission. I do love a good house-based adventure.
