When you use 3ds to bin it tells you how many polys the object has. And there is no fixed number of polys that is too many but one less is OK. DromEd seems to take other things into consideration than just the number of polys that an object has. I have no idea what, but the number of polys is not the sole determining factor. If your object is less than 1000 polys you are likely to be OK. If you have over 2000 polys, you are likely to crash and burn. I've had some objects of less than 800 polys fail and some over 1200 succeed. Number of polys is just a rule of thumb to aid you during modeling of the object. The real test is when you add it to your mission and try it in DromEd.

I always get errors with 3ds to bin so I use 3ds2e and bsp. I just tried it now and it worked fine. :p My object has 1619 polys so it looks like everything is (was) ok. The reason why I asked is because I want to release my hanging cage both with and without the skeleton. I don't want to release it with LGS objects so I thought about making some substitutes that won't generate high poly counts including the cage itself.
