Finally a Thief video on the archives :thumb:

I also have a working demo of a 40 second run, but apparently demos won't work for other people
Really? I've never managed to replay a demo that was longer than about 10 to 20 seconds. Which operating system do you have?

I have Windows 2000.
I even have a demo of a 1:39 Training run that occasionally works. It seems copying it back to my Thief Gold directory fixes it sometimes, but only once, then I have to copy it again (and again and again...). Anyway, these demos are pointless unless there's a way to capture them that takes almost no resources (in which case they're pointless anyway) or a way to watch them on different systems.
The video is up btw:

Keep in mind, it's 104 MB for fifty seconds of not so great footage, but if you want to see what a speedrun of Bafford's looks like, go ahead.

The old story. As long as the demo is in main memory (or the file system cache), the demo runs fine. That happens when you copy the file. Once the system has to access the disk, the demo breaks. :(

If they worked reliably, I'd spend some work making a standard environment for running demos. But if they don't even work on the system they were recorded on it's pointless.

That's strange, the open source movies at the archives automatically converts what you upload into different formats. Apparently the speed runs don't do that.

Hrm, I can't get under 0:42. There is nothing super-special in the video - some parts could even be done faster. I've no idea where I'm losing two seconds.

Hm, we have a (
http://darkfate.iskratelecom.ru:8080/FILEARCHIVE/MEDIA/VIDEO/OurVideos/44sBafford.AVI) 44 sec video bur not all. Size about 8 meters
But I'm interested: 41 sec ingame screen show, or just the time video player says?. I think it's different.
I think you lost 2 seconds at the opening of the gate.

That's what the mission stats say.

The gate is one of the crucial points in the mission, but there is no way I'm losing this much time there. Other important parts are how well you get past the banner and down the rafters in the hall before the throne room. Anyway, I'm sure I got all these pretty optimal on my 42 second runs.

I can't see the videos. :( Should I install some quicktime plug in? I have quicktime already...
Here are my times:
Training: 1:55
Lord Bafford's Manor: 0:47
Break Into Cragsleft Prison: 3:24(did I just beat the record by 11 seconds? 0_o)
The Sword: 2:51
