Saw Epic on multiple recommendations from family. Won't win any awards for originality, but lots of fun.

Everything I've been reading about it has been merciless. Of course I took it for granted it'd be awful from the first trailer I saw, as my first intuition anyway... I knew exactly what Will Smith has been up to doing projects with his son since The Karate Kid abomination (...really the Pursuit of Happyness, but in that case they had a legit story to build off of as a saving grace.)
When you get people invested in vanity projects that blind them to actual storytelling & QA like he does, the math does itself.
But usually I keep these things to myself so as not to ruffle feathers (I had to do that with Avatar), and then I'm just bemused to see apparently general opinion sometimes comes around to see it like that too...
Edit: I thought the premise itself is respectable and could be done well in different hands, so it's not like I was happy to see my initial intuition seems to be right.

TBH with you it always looked bad to me. I predict the twist will be its actually 1000s of years before this Earth. its all like a cycle maaaann ollol huuuurr but that doesn't actually bother me. Oblivion's plot wasn't a revelation but it was so well done I enjoyed it immensely.
Fast 6 was tremendous fun. It wasn't as good as 5, and the ending was just so wtf it was great. Jason in the mix!, but if you enjoy totally, totally ridiculous ott action with heavy doses of multiple cheeses then this is for you.

I'm debating seeing Gatsby in 3D tonight.
For the purposes of clarity, I saw the complete mess of a 3D trailer and think the plot looks terrible but it also looks like visual sex.
Plus I liked R+J and Moulin Rouge so there's a 50/50 chance there's something in there for me.

The plot looks terrible? Not read the book then?

there's a book?

From what I've read (by friends that have seen it, and more than one put it this way), people that liked the book actually liked the movie's portrayal of it, and people that like movies liked it so-so as a movie about a book... Whatever that means. Book people liked it; movie people thought it was okay. I wasn't going to say anything until I've seen it though, since I have no context. I want to watch it though.
