How I felt about Iron Man 3 after realizing that I'd actually PAID for it:

What do you have against Iron Man 3? It's not the most ground-breaking film ever but it was perfectly enjoyable and RDJ's performance was well balanced.
Just seen Star Trek Into Darkness - excellent film. The cast really seem to be getting into their roles and I much preferred Simon Pegg's acting to the previous film (I have no problem with him in Spaced, Hot Fuzz etc. but he seemed a little too comedic first time around).

Bones was just great. He's really channelling Kelly well. I was much saddened to see that DeForest Kelly died in 1999. He was always one of my favs in the TV show and original ST movies.
In other news - I just saw an advert for a film called White House Down. I've read the blurb. Errr, what? Isn't this just Olympus Has Fallen? How do two films like this get made at the same time?

I dunno, Subj. How did Deep Impact and Armageddon get similar release windows? Volcano and Dante's Peak?

Thing about these summer bullshit movies. I just watched Shame - interesting film. It's all about sexual obsession, as in a functional obsession with sex and how emotionally alienating that can be. Complex characters, good script, great cinematography, about a pretty complicated topic that we can all relate to in some way or another. It's an hour and a half long. Why does it take these idiots up to a full hour longer than that to tell a stupid story about some dickhead in a funny suit punching people and making things explode? I can't be even remotely bothered to watch any more marvel or DC movies. fuck em. All of the new Batmans were so long I left the cinema thinking about something else. Unless Iron Man 3 is an intriguing character study that really wrings every ounce of pathos and significance it can out of it's two hour+ slot, rather than being a bunch of crap happening to non-characters from a childrens story while RDJ jizzes all over everything and some guy named after an orange shits fireballs, I can't be fucked with it.

I don't think this is the thread for you, really. I might as well wander into a discussion on Shame and demand more robot-suits and one-liners.

Why did it take Christopher Nolan nearly three hours to tell the story of a rich vigilante finding the necessary inner strength to punch an angry bald guy? Basically, why are all these fucking stupid summer movies so long? It's not so much a complaint about the merits of hur-hur films, it's just why does everyone think they need to make them long enough to make your buttocks go numb. I mean, come on. If The Seventh Seal can do it in an hour and a half, you can make a movie about quipping robot suits and grim-faced dickheads punching each other in that or less.
