The tensest part of any game... - by sparkle_motion

...can surely be when you've spent an age on a level, meticulously robbing it for everything it is worth, and finally reaching the safety/mission completed area. But things have gone a little wrong, you attracted more attention than you'd hoped in the last stages as you presumed it wouldn't matter, you get out into the safe area and desparately run away from the bag guys waiting for the mission to end.
It happened with me today when I completed Return to th Cathedral, had about 6 undead on my tail after the cloister gate explosion and the mission end took a good 10/15 seconds to appear. I was sweating. :)
Oh, and hello. I'm a new member and giant thief (and system shock 2) fan. The name is Hannah. :)

And this was, what, you're 5th, 6th? 20th playthrough? :cheeky:
Never gets old, does it?

Actually, as I just said in a post in another thread, it was my FIRST time to complete Return to the Cathedral.
Basically I've had the game for years and I could barely do the Bonehoard level because of the undead element, so when I got to this I simple couldn't do it. I hadn't even got to swiping the Eye. Then I started playing the game from the beginning again a few months ago (nb: I have played the preceeding levels many-a-time) and decided to clench my buttocks and do it. And I only just finished it today. :)

Ha ha...yeah, that level scared the hell out of me too. I haven't played it in a long time. I should reinstall it and do some late night Thieving again.

But it's not the haunts that keeps me away. :o

Ah, lounging about in The Cloister. Knee deep into zombie parts, I hope.
It's good to see you here, Hannah.

Thankyou Goldmoon!
I don't think I'll be doing the mission again in a hurry. I thought it would be a case of grabbing the eye and getting out, so I was so frustrated when I had to get all of these things for Murus. And I hated that you could only hear his instructions once (ie. it didn't come up on objectives) and I have a noisy boyfriend who is often playing his wii while i'm playing, who doesnt take kindly for me screaming at him to shut up so I know where the rosary beads are. :)

Ahh that level is easily one of the best levels I have ever played. I remember the first time I played it, I thought holy F*** this main room (which I was standing in the corner of) as like 3 or 4 haunts and double that number of zombies. I mustered up the courage to shoot one of the haunts with one arrow, then chuck about 4 or 5 flashbombs I had and SPLAT everything dies and I was like GET IN.
Murus is definetly the most unpredictable though. Sometimes when re-playing a level, I'm skipping his orders and running around grabbing stuff when suddenly you go round a corner and he's THERE IN YOUR FACE and your like AHHH it's another apparition! Then he turns round with that really calm voice and says "Poor little novice" etc. etc. etc. Oh yeah I just completed the game on expert a couple of days ago ;) for the first time
