The ultimate scare. . . - by Lady Taffer

Mmmm, I'd have to say when I was creeping through one of the hallways in the dark and accidentally stepped on a puppet I had completely forgot about. He jumped up, screaming at me and I freaked out. So did the little girl I was sort of baby sitting at the time:p
I actually had a funniest moment, as well. I was in the morgue and the puppet down there spotted me and came running over. He stopped a little ways away, like there was something in-between him and Garrett (although I couldn't see a thing - there was nothing between us), and was shrieking. I moved a bit and he got closer but still couldn't catch me. Finally I put him out of his misery and doused him with holy water. Livened up the mood a bit, at least for a little while.

For me it was the ambience and the sounds. Especially the outer cradle part, which was excellently done. And the pounding of the attic door. It took quite a while to get enough courage to open it.
But one of the scariest moments was in the morgue. I already knew that puppets made the lights flicker, even when dead. So when I saw the light's flicker, and noticed the puppet lying in the ground I thought it was he who made the light's flicker. I expected him to rise up when I get near enough, so I decided to throw holywater to him and kill him. This killed the puppet, and I went near to see that he was dead. I turned around to get a clearer picture of the morgue, only to see another puppet right in front of my face, who just started to scream and hit me. I almost jumped through the ceiling, as I thought that the light flickering around there was caused only by the puppet I just killed.

Hmmm... Those who say that TDS isn't a realistic game don't know what they are saying. I loaded an old save to Inner Cradle to show off the mission to some pals. Well, in one of the treatment rooms, near the lobotomy instruments ("Lobotomy Room", I guess...) was this one Puppet, walking over and over against the wall no matter how close I came. Probably been there from the start and to the end of times, just hitting his head against the wall. Talk about realism, lobotomy DOES calm insane down. Only Puppet that I spared.
P.S: My annoyingly percemptive baby brother found out that there's a map of the Cradle somewhere(!).
Too much luxury... True men go in blindly.

Whenever I see a puppet, I think of Voldo from Soul Caliber...
I found a lovely glitch that completely destroyed the scary mood.
I had backstabbed a puppet, and when it collapsed, my friend said I should throw a book at it. I did, and when the book hit it, it got pushed through the floor. after a few seconds, the lights stopped flickering. It worked three more times before stopping.

I was looking through the door at the lobotamy theatre, and I could see the puppet on the far side just standing there. I waited about five minutes :erm: for it to move then slowly crept through.
I decided the best way to dispatch it would be with fire arrows as there was a reasonable distance, but I thought it would run at me in a straight line.
Instead due to the ledge it was on, as soon as the arrow hit the damned thing it ran off to the right out of sight.
I stood there with another arrow for about 30 seconds (the puppet must have gotten stuck) when it burst into the light a few meters from my face. I frantically fired arrows as it clawed at me, my health going down twice as fast since they were exploding in front of my face.
Finally it collapsed in front of me. By this point I was shaking (I'm a complete wimp when it comes it horror). I honest to your deity of choice almost fell over my chair backwards when it got up seconds later and I died. It happened so so so fast. I just left the game-over screen as it was and went away to do something else.
Did it just get colder in here...?

When I played the Cradle for the first time, I freaked out when I had to go into the cage to go to the past. I paced around my living room for about 20 minutes because I was so scared to go in there and close the door! I had no idea what it was going to be like when I went into the past and I was already on edge because of the puppets. (I screamed when one of them stood up and charged at me!) I totally LOVE that level!!!!:cheeky:

I never screamed or took a break, the most I did was jump.

Yes, another Shalebridge Cradle thread, but hopefully slightly different than all the other ones out there: Most everyone was terrified by the Cradle, but what I thought it'd be interesting to talk about is what scared you the most.
Just so you know, there are already some huge threads hiding around centered on "omg x part of the cradle scared me"

Are you kidding me? I barely flinched my first time through, and I'm just a wimpy little girl. ;)
