Just following in OFP's footsteps. :-) They have the market cornered though, so when they want to make some quick cash they tack a single player campaign onto their military simulator and sell it to civilians.
I liked OFP and I like Arma 2, but it's not worth $50 that's for sure. I didn't buy it until steam had a half off deal on it.

The thing about Arma is that you either really like it or you don't.
Mostly I just play online with a great bunch of guys, then worry about the single player when its fully patched, the most recent of which supposedly improves performance by 15-20 frames.
(It was funny when all the CSS idiots would come to our server having just installed the game and skipped single player completely, now its just annoying)

So you play PvP on private servers with friends? I guess that's the only way to derive any enjoyment from the game. COOP is just plain boring to me, because BIS tries to cover up the AI's infantile tactical abilities with aimbot-like shooting skills. After a while, putting a Javelin up a tank's ass, only to have the crew jump out of an exploding wreck, turn on a dime, and headshot you with their AKMS from 400m away, begins to lose its charm.

The AI accuracy can be tweaked. Other than that, you just have to learn how the game plays and adapt. :)

The AI has been greatly improved from previous games. For the first few weeks we would regularly get our asses handed to us until we refined both our play styles and tweaked the AI difficulty (they're still sneaky bastards, but they don't get headshots with a pistol from a mile away).
The AI will flank and reverse slope defence and any number of things, a massive improvement over previous games, only ofp under wgl mods with customised ai scripts would come close and that is still pretty poor in comparison.
However, for alot of our coop missions we often use a human commander run High Command mode, but mainly thats just the keep those missions fresh.
With the latest beta patches the AI has been tweaked further by BIS, they actually use RPG's properly for example.
