We have different definitions of sneaky obviously.

With the latest beta patches the AI has been tweaked further by BIS, they actually use RPG's properly for example.
What an improvement! Actually, I keep up with the beta patches, but AT soldiers are still crazy. One of the many examples would be when they spot a group of enemies they often switch to the RPG launcher, change their mind and go back to the rifle. If they live that long.
Some other stuff:
They turn 180deg when I order STOP.
They constantly stare at walls. They even use binocs... watching a wall 1m away.
They break the hold fire ROE. This is totally random. Sometimes they'll start firing on enemies that couldn't possibly have seen them, other times they'll hold fire even if they're being fired upon from 50m.
They stand up when you tell them to keep low. What's worse, there's simply no purpose to their standing up. They stand up, go prone. Stand up, go prone. Jesus Christ.
They can't drive around any kind of obstacle.
They don't suppress. The suppress command does absolutely nothing.
They have zero survival instincts. There's an M1A2 TUSK coming? "Maybe if I stand still it won't see me..."
I better stop. I'm getting angry just writing this.

By sneaky I was referring to the flanking actions they make which where pretty much absent in all other BIS games.
Ordering your own AI can be a bit iffy and I've heard people complain about the same sort of stuff. Personally, I havent had that much trouble.

I found the AI in the original Arma suffered from the same issues, so it's pretty disappointing that they haven't fixed that stuff yet. It's weird, because in the original OFP I never had issues with my squad(s) following orders correctly.
Does the AI in Arma 2 still refuse to go over bridges? That's still my favorite part of the original campaign in the first game - when you're part of that huge combined-arms assault at the end, you need to cross a fortified bridge into the heart of town and it's impossible to make your squad follow you. They either just stand at the far end of it, or wander into the area underneath it. Good times.

That was already improved in ArmA. Would be quite crazy otherwise, since Sahrani is full of bridges...

Weird, I have the gold edition with the Warfare patch and the AI still does that in the specific mission I referenced.

Well, I haven't found proof that it was actually fixed, but I never came across this problem.

Wasn't the problem to do with the bridge alignment screwing the AI pathfinding? I can't quite remember that happening in Arma 1. just that the AI was a bit slow sometimes.
Definitely doesn't happen in Arma 2 (at least I've heard no-one complain about it), they've even managed to have AI move through forests decently now too.

There's only a tiny bridge on BIS' map, and they crossed it. It took them forever though. They crossed it walking, one by one, with lots of running back and forth. It almost looks like they're terrified of bridges.
The only substantial bridge I could find was Tara Bridge on the Namalsk island (beautiful island with a STALKERish atmosphere, highly recommended).
They refused to cross it or to follow me. When ordered to go to the other side, they ran off to go around it (looks like 15-20km).

I don't know what BIS are thinking, really. I knew their track record of badly buggy releases, and after 5 minutes of checking reviews decided not to go near ARMA2 for at least a year (and probably more). Even if it's all fixed up, you can more or less guarantee that the price will be about a quarter of its original retail by that stage, and given that plenty of other people are doubtless thinking the same thing, it just sounds like BIS are shooting themselves in the foot as far as sales go.

I would imagine it's more that if they didn't publish when they do, they'd run out of money to pay the people still working on the game. If they had unlimited funds, I would be surprised if they didn't spend more on QA - but as it is, the die-hard Bohemia Interactive fans will buy the game as soon as it comes out, funding the next few months of QA and bug-squashing. It's by no means ideal, but it may be the only way such ambitious niche games ever see the light of day.
