BIS removed the clock indicator, which makes veteran more and above totally broken in ArmA 2.
Your team leader says shit like
TARGET THAT AT SOLDIER, but there's no indication which man, which direction he's in or how far he is
MOVE TO THAT TREE, but there's no indication which tree, which direction or how far
or your team says
ENEMY AT SOLDIER LEFT FLANK FAR, which thanks to the bugged detection code might mean they've just announced some dude sitting by a camp fire hidden behind two hills, a forest, and a town, or it might be a RPG soldier 100m away who's about to blast you all to hell. Also, left of whom??
etc...
It was infinitely better in ArmA 1 where you had announcements like ENEMY MAN 2 O'CLOCK 100 METERS, and MOVE TO THAT BUSH, 6 O'CLOCK 250 METERS
No idea why the fuck they changed this.

Fair enough - I was going to mention that, but for some reason forgot to. It doesn't make the game feel as good as it otherwise might, but it doesn't really matter if you can't decipher where the commander's telling you to go, because you're not required to go there. I've gotten along fine just generally following the squad, taking cover that seems sensible, and scanning for and taking out enemies I can see.

rmA2 is kinda special, since it has no competition, at all. It's the only serious military game these days.
Operation Flashpoint 2?

Nah, they're not even in the same league.

OFPDR is more fun (much better infantry AI, few bugs, great sound engine), but lacks many of the features of ArmA 2, or even OFP.

Might want to be careful where you said that lest the throngs of uberfanbois start screaming.
Personally I couldn't disagree more about your opinion on AI. I found DR to be passable at best, just run of the mill fps ai.
sound was pretty good.

Thats what makes it so good compared to the AI in Arma 2

So apart from adding some new goodies (yay for free "DLC"), the 1.05 patch apparently significantly revamps AI and improved performance. Did anybody notice? I'm still definitely interested in getting this game, though probably won't for a while as my library is rather backed up.
