Hey guys. First post here. I've known about this site for a while (even played through T2X recently, which was pretty good) but I haven't signed up 'till now. I've been a Thief fan since the first demo of The Dark Project and have started a new video series focusing on stealth in games. The Thief II alpha mission, The Unwelcome Guest, is my favourite mission in the entire series (I actually like it more than Life of the Party), closely followed by The House of Widow Moira and Song of the Caverns. As such, I decided to attempt a ghost run of it for one of the series' episodes. You can watch it here:
(http://www.wegame.com/watch/The_Sneaky_Bastard_plays_Thief_II_Part_1/) Part 1
(http://www.wegame.com/watch/The_Sneaky_Bastard_plays_Thief_II_Part_2/) Part 2This is not a successful ghosting run. The mission is such that it cannot really be completed as per the official ghosting rules, due to the guard outside Karras' office and the alarm that sounds after swiping the schematics. As such, I had to resort to a flash and a blackjack, but he is the only KO in the whole run. I managed to get through without a single alert for the entire rest of the mission. However, it is a forty-minute mission, and I can't show you the entire thing in the video as it would be too long. So what I have done is take a montage of scenes on the rooftops leading up to Angelwatch, then provided you with the uncut eleven minute infiltration of the tower, as its the most tense part of the run. I also had to cut out breaking in to Castle Carlysle armoury, since that happens after the tower (you get the key whilst in there - sunburst device makes too much noise!) and is rather anticlimactic. I can't really provide you any real proof of the no alerts, so you'll just have to take my word.
Here's the end of mission stats screens. It's amazing how desparate you get for every piece of loot; I only just made the requirement.

Nice work.
You can get through without setting off the alarm, however.
in the back hallway off the kitchen next to the storeroom is a closet with the OFF switch overhead in the door jamb.

Are you sure you're not talking about the retail version? Because there is no off switch there in the demo, which is what this run is of.

Thanks for videos. You know it would be nice to have some FM ghostings and walkthroughs on Youtube or other video sites. I can only find few FM videos on Youtube which feels odd because there are hundreds of FMs to play.

Hey, thanks for that link, Clearing. I've never seen or played that demo before.

Right, I mistook "Unwelcome" (I should have known better), for "Uninvited". Sorry about that.
Actually "Unwelcome" is tougher than "Uninvited". The AI are much more sensitive and alert in Unwelcome.
But it is still a great pair of videos. Thanks for sharing.

In retrospect, I like the demo much more than LoTP as well, though LoTP is probably one of my top 2 favs in the series. Randy really outdid himself on that one.

Great videos, but I would have prefered having them unedited... Thanks for sharing them!
edit: by the way, does anyone know if there are special editing ressources found in the demo mission which arn't in thief 1 and thief 2?
