So I'm playing THC for my first time on expert. I complete the objective about the watchman's grave and nothing happens. Is something supposed to happen? If nothing happens, it seems kinda dumb that Garrett the atheist would believe in luck. And if something does happen, please don't tell me it.

No, nothing happens. Just put some coins in and off you go to wherever next :)

With a membership number of 9141 and a registration date from last year, how did it take so long for you to tackle the game on expert mode? And wouldn't you have come across the same question on any other mode?
But I agree with the sentiment. After tossing the coins in the watchman's grave, I was anticipating some kind of reaction. BTW, nothing in my documentation lists Garrett as being an atheist. I've got the Platinum edition of Thief so maybe they left that particular identification out.

I kinda assumed he was an atheist or an agnostic because his general distrust of the hammers and everyone else. Also the comment "I wonder where a heretic like me can get some holy water" right before Cragscleft. It took me so long because when I registered at TTLG I had been borrowing TDP, had beaten it on normal a couple times, then gave it back. Around January 2001 I bought TMA. It took me forever to beat on normal cause I got pissed in soulforge, borrowed Deus Ex, and beat it a couple of times. Then I finished TMA and bought TDP. Now I am playing TDP on expert. Oh, and I have platinum edition too, I couldn't find TG.

I kinda remember that comment come to think of it. I understand the atheist assumption now. Not that it was too significant :)
I also tend to put games aside when they piss me off. The one game I never really finished was Descent, and I mean the original one! There was this one level where a huge mother of a ship would disappear only to reappear behind you and blast you out of existence. I just couldn't get past that level and basically never returned to it. That experience tainted me as well, for now when I get stuck for any time (over a week), I'll try to bypass it in godmode if possible. Can't do that in this game, and I'm having to learn (slowly) to use the sword better. I'm still on the level "Escape", and getting through it extremely slowly. There's just too many spiders...and bugbeasts and apemen! Hopefully, I'll eventually prevail.

What. Theres a platinum edition?

There is a platinum edition available, perhaps only in Canada. It was $20 with a $20 mail-in rebate! :D
Whether I'll actually ever see that rebate is a different question.

Look at
my membership number and registration date... and know that I have myself stopped at RTC. I want that game to last, I've got little time to spend on in, and I'm playing Thief 2 at the same time... besides I got thief gold last year and decided no to finish TDP, but TGold instead, so now I'm back to The Sword...
I just want it to last. (and yes, levels such as RTC are scary)
Also, registration dates aren't that significant considering that TDP and TMA are not the only games discussed on those boards, which means that you can register to discuss another game first...

IIRC, the platinum edition is just The Dark Project plus the original patch. Get Thief Gold, which has 3 extra missions and more stuff in some of the original missions (goodies, secrets, etc.). Stay away from Platinum Thief.

I should have gotten Thief Gold it seems....but you can't beat the price :D
