Man...will I ever get used to this? It feels so weird. Can this be changed, disabled, modded out...anything?!?!?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

There's a guy at work who walks without his head or upper body moving at all. It all looks very stilted and odd, we call him 'Slider' for the way he slinks across the room. My fellow gamer chums and I used to joke that he had his bob set to 0%.
What's my point? Bob is realistic, bob happens, people move naturally with bob. YOU try walking without bobbing at all and see how fake it seems. Bob is A Good Thing and makes the game more realistic. So just get used to it Goddammit!

Sure head bob is realistic, but apparently not the way TDS does it. Sounds like it's simulating someone with every vertebrae of his spine fused together.

Y'know? You're right.
I just tried walking with a coffee in my hand without any bob in my head, coffee, and body. Not possible.
And it's not like Garret is riding a horse or anything.
It looks like I just have to SUCK IT UP AND DEAL WITH IT!!!

What about folks who get motion sickness from it? I mean, I can play most first-person games no problem (and hopefully Thief 3 won't bother me), but actually watching someone else play gives me a massive headache and nausea...
Which I use to make sure I'm the one playing. :ebil:

I have the opposite - a silky smooth ride can give me motion sickness when I'm playing...
madphilb on 27/5/2004 at 13:56
Yeah, the smoother the game, the more it tends to make me sick (which is why I can't play any really old games, the 2d in 3d ones like Wolfenstien 3D
After other's comments in the reveiws and whatnot I expected it to be much worse... it's not really bad at all IMNSHO.

Er...I don't think it's that bad. Play for about 10 hours and you'll hardly notice it anymore.

More like, play for about 10 minutes and I didn't notice it anymore (maybe I'm just a fast learner :cheeky:). I'm spending some time in third-person view, also, so maybe that helps break up the head-bobbing delirium. And I do feel sorry for anyone who just slammed 3rd-person (like myself) without ever trying it, and still hasn't given it any chance. Or, as I said in another thread, maybe I'm just an adapable taffer :joke:.

I was looking at one of the ini files (user.ini? memory is hazy) and it looks like you can disable the headbob. Unless it has a different function but is named just like that (was something like disable headbob or something heh).
