I think the winner in this whole thing is the guy who made Day Z, he's probably sitting back laughing, taking notes, fine tuning the standalone, and when it's finally released, The War Z will be crushed like a bug. At this point, the War Z crew is probably just hanging on for dear life, trying to squeeze every last penny out of the thing until it dies a horrible death.

Including questions about "his" unethical behavior from family and friends.

From what I can see that's been their strategy from the start - get as many sales and in game purchases as they can while spending the least possible amount developing the game to turn a quick buck. Unlike other developers they don't seem worried about their reputation or ongoing support so it's difficult to feel any sympathy towards them.

Or, 'The Fail Z.'
I had followed some news about this, and I'm so so glad I did not buy this game on steam.
If you must know, I didn't know you could buy it from their site until later and when it was on steam I considered buying it before learning about the whole controversy.
One thing I read that I found completely off-the-wall stupid was how they made it where if you died you had to wait an insanely long time to play your character again. I think it was like 4 hours and then it was apparently reduced to 60 minutes? Oh, and you could pay to spawn faster too IIRC.
