I would have been happy with a rehash of the first game, but this is looking pretty sexy.

I need to finish the first game. Now that I have a nice Dual-Core and SLI, I need to give it another shot. I just didn't have a decent enough processor before to break 20 fps, and it was mostly a slideshow. What I slugged through was fun, though.
That said, this is going to be awesome. I am all for the 'perfect engine for RPGs'.

wtf are you talking about ? these are the same presentations on the same version of the engine with exactly the same gameplay only from 2 different sessions.
Erm, so is mothra arguing with himself here?
Anyway, I watched the Gamescom press presentation that was posted on RPS. This game is shaping up very nicely, I definitely look forward to playing it.
It's due Q1 2011, so going head to head with Dragon Age 2 which is out in March. I honestly think that they should strategically delay it to like May or June, it'd be a shame if its sales were overshadowed by Bioware's game.

The engine looks absolutely amazing. I want to believe them when they say they've created the best engine for an RPG.
But the gameplay looks very context sensitive which I hate. Press f to open the door, press f to extinguish the torch, press f to peek through the hole, press f to jump, press f to climb, press f to knock someone out, press f to not use your brain...
I'm not a big fan of this type of gameplay, it's like having the developper constantly telling the player what he can do, instead of the player being aware of it himself. Why can't they just teach me the controls of the game at the beginning and then let me use these controls myself as I see fit. Make me responsible of my actions instead of holding my hand all the way to the end of the game.
Still, the game looks really amazing. I have a feeling this is gonna put to shame every other pseudo-RPGs out there. The game world seems huge and yet it all seems very detailed and hand-crafted, not randomly generated like oblivion. And the plot seems highly interactive. I mean 3 openings, 16 endings, and shitload of different paths to choose from. That will be a nice change from the usual "Do you want to go left or right ?" or "Do you want to be good or evil ?" we get in every other game. I think this game will raise the bar and set a new standard for RPGs.
well, it's not different from hitting mouse1 all the time in the first game for the same actions imo. I'm still a little disappointed by the bossfight but everything else. saliva.

This stuff looks pretty good! I never got to play the original Witcher despite recommendations, and seeing as my backlog is already quite extensive I wouldn't count on getting it any time soon, but I may well pony up for the second one if I get caught in the hype.

Not quite the same, granted, but there's also DX3 scheduled to (
http://store.steampowered.com/app/39170/) ship in February and I'd imagine there may be a little bit of overlap in target demographics there as well. Well, at any rate, at least we'll have plenty of interesting releases in that period.

gametrailers has a little better quality:
(

nudity: they acutally made a cutscene like a collector's card, never thought that is possible but the framing and pacing, the way the camera lingers shows the same exploitative attitude the cards in the first game had. wonder if they have a boobies-plugin for their engine for the wobbling.

(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpR9VwHEmjI) 30 min audio interview with senior producer, Tomasz Gop. Tomasz appears to be following the comments made to the Youtube video and replying.
I haven't been able to listen to it yet due to time issues, but hopefully it's decent.

yep, heard this one and it's good, there is even a follow up on RPS since they cite an article from RPS on the show and I like their response. It's not about WHAT you show but HOW you show it. I don't want them to cut boobs but to use their ingame cinematics engine more intelligently and it seems they will. One of the drawbacks of only using ingame sequences is that you cannot heavily alter or postprocess a scene and are stuck with the game's models and animations and shiny boobs is a byproduct of this. I think it's classy, let's hope it doesn't turn out to be cowardice
