And lose half their sales? Unlikely. How the hell can you sell a brand new, not-yet-reviewed game on good old games?
I suppose mightbequitegoodfromwhatwe'veseenofthepreviewsnewgames.com doesn't have the same ring to it.

I'd say it's a perfect opportunity to promote GoG, start its expansion to newer titles and put a dent in Steam's near monopoly on digital distribution.

More power to em if that's their strategy and it works. They probably should have picked a less specific website name though if this is their plan.

Oh well it will be available on Steam as well.
GoG availability confirmed, with no DRM naturally :thumb: It will be interesting to compare GoG and Steam sales.
Requirements:
System: Windows XP/Vista
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2,2 GHz or similar from AMD
RAM: 1 GB dla XP, 2 GB dla Visty
Graphics: GeForce 8800 512 VR or similar from ATI
HDD: 8 GB
Three different editions: Premium, Collector's and digital.
Collector's is the one I posted on the previous page.
Premium has:
- the game
- the manual
- Dandelion's pamphlet and cursed Salamandra coin
- a map
- papercrafts
- a guide
- DLC depending on country
- the soundtrack
- a "behind the scenes" movie
Digital has everything Premium does, in digital form.

Does this release mean GOG will introduce full price, new games?
No. We're still devoted to bringing you classic games with no DRM at incredible prices. This is a one time special offer to promote the great RPG by our sister company CD Projekt RED, the developer behind The Witcher franchise.
Still a cool idea, however. I will certainly be picking this one up through GOG.

It's probably an experiment, really. See how it sells, adjust plans accordingly.

Dude, GOG is the same exact company that makes the Witcher games. Why is it such a fucking stretch to believe they will sell it?

I should probably get around to playing the Witcher 1 before this comes out...

Same way people can buy one just
hoping it's good when they play it.

I wanted to say ballsy move, but Steam was cracked eons ago so its function as DRM is nonexistant anyway. I wouldn't count on many GoG sales, people love their Steam stats way too much.

I'm preordering it today on GOG. 44.99€ for a day-1 download + a $16 rebate on GOG + a free game (out of five choices: Gothic 2 Gold, Realms of Arkania 1 + 2, Realms of Arkania 3, Divine Divinity, and Beyond Divinity) are enough to make the deal win over the retail edition, although I would have enjoyed the map included. Will probably find a way to print it anyway.
I absolutely don't care about Steam stats or achievements, and I enjoyed the first Witcher enough to trust CDP Red with my money. Also TBH I didn't buy The Witcher after playing it and still haven't, so that's a way of ensuring they at least receive some money from me.
EDIT: Also
