Cardia, your whinging is getting irritating. Instead of constantly complaining about shit, I wish you'd do some research first.
If you've patched the game properly, choose Options in the launcher, and at the bottom there's a button called 'Input Settings' that lets you remap keys.
You don't need to jump in the game. It's context sensitive. If you want to jump out of the way in combat, you roll by pressing space, or one of the direction keys twice.
As far as the anachronisms go, that's part of the world of the Witcher. They even talk about DNA, for chrissake.

I have no problem with four-letter words in
The Witcher - they don't even strike me as anachronistic. Stuff like DNA, though... It may be done better in the books, but I think such quasi-anachronisms need to be done extremely well do work and feel like an integral part of the fictional world. I don't think the writers of the game pulled it off in the first one, but I'm curious about the sequel.

Well, there is this theory of Kalkstein in the first game where he goes on about how he thinks that matter is made of small particles. It seemed quite well placed to me, an medieval alchemist looking to find proofs for an atomic theory.
Hm, after looking that up on Wikipedia this would rather counts as anachronism since this idea of matter being made of discrete particles apparently was already stated 2600 years ago.

It's not the idea that bothers me, it's the conspicuous specificity with which some of these things are introduced. It's the overt contrast between a world that seems late medieval in 95% of its details, and then you suddenly get a modern idea that is practically unfiltered. Note that this is based on imperfect memories of the first game, but I think I felt at the time that these 'anachronisms' were introduced in a way that winked at the audience, and you can only pull this off if you're really clever. These modern bits stuck out like a sore thumb to my mind.

You mean that if i patch the game then i will be able to set up the movement keys with the arrows keys? because yeaterday i did try to set up the binddings in the "input settings" and the only arrow keys i was allow to set was the left and right arrows. And yes i now i can roll aside, still i would like the option to jump, i hate when a game doesn´t give me that option, it feels like you are stick to the ground, and i´m not enjoying some words that some characters use for a time that is located on medieval times, it just feels like your watching one of those mediocre movies where the story takes action on epic times.

Good point, especially the fact that the concepts come through practically unfiltered. It does indeed stick out and doesn't gel very well with the rest of the universe because there's no explanation or attempt to adapt (retrofit?) modern concepts into the Witcher's alternate medieval universe, but I've come to ignore or accept these things as par for the course - grain of salt and all that.
@cardia: if you've applied the latest patch, it will allow you to bind the arrow keys to movement directions. I just tested it myself.

Cardia on 1/6/2011 at 14:40
i´ve tried the premium patch and also the western patch but they can´t be installed , it gets an error :p, i don´t know wich patch to install :p, there should be a universal patch. :nono:

If you cracked it then of course you can't patch it now, you need to reinstall first.
