You got something wrong there. Nekkers don't have coccoons.
There are two contracts, one for nekkers, the other for endreagas. First, you gather knowledge about the monsters, by either killing enough of them or reading books about them. That will give you knowledge on how to get rid of them:
For nekkers, you'll have to
destroy the entrances to their tunnels (which look like mounds of earth and bones). You have to get close enough, and a prompt will appear to left click to destroy it (you have to have grapeshot bombs in your inventory) For endreagas,
Find their coccoons, left click to open them, then slash the eggs inside. After you destroy 3 coccoons, an endreaga queen will appear and you have to kill it. There are two places with coccoons, and you have to kill two queens. Thanks Van Helsing, i meant endreagas, i found one of their cocons, at least its what my quest journal says, i don´t recall finding it, but i´ll see if i recognize those cocons and figure out how to destroy their eggs. This is a game created in your country, right?

If you still have problems finding the cocoons, I can upload some screenshots.
@Renzatic that's interesting, I checked and indeed, a nightwraith named Maladie appears for a few seconds near the tree. It disappeared without me even trying to fight it. It might just be a sort of easter egg, Maladie is the title of one of Sapkowski's non-Witcher stories.

all monsters respawn, especially in caves, only in fewer numbers and less high classes if you finish the "exterminate" quests. so if you want ingredients in high numbers, do this quest last.

Renz, is that the swampy area near the bandit hideout? The shack surrounded by beartraps where you can usually find a couple or more human bandits?
If so, I've never seen those wraiths during my two play-throughs. I'll have to play to that point and give it a look-see.
Yup. The tree in question is just south of that. It's practically the first things you see when you're heading down the hill to enter the swamp.

Hmm. The two I saw were Una and Gretcha. Those names ring a bell for you?
They won't attack you unless you're within a few feet of where they materialize. You have to be pretty quick, because they seem to want to appear when you're practically within eyeshot of the front of the tree.
Also, can anyone give me a hint on where I can find an Arachne? I've scoured every inch of the forest, day and night, and haven't run across a single one. Don't tell me flat out where it's at. I'm trying to beat this without resorting to any FAQs. Just give me a gentle nudge in the right direction.

Nope, those names don't tell me anything. I'll need to investigate this further.
About the arachas, just forget about it for now, you'll encounter it in a storyline quest.
EDIT: Looks like the names are actually randomly taken from a list, like most of the npcs. The wraith that appeared this time was Sive. By the way, this is the only place in the game I've seen nightwraights outside of three quest-related ones in Act 2.

Hmm. wonder if they were added in the latest patch?
Wraiths are the only source of Deathdust in chapter 1, which is needed for the Melitele's Heart quest.
The only other wraiths are found in the asylum side quest, and are limited in number, so it was possible to use all of your Deathdust without realising it (this happened to me).
Adding respawning wraiths would be a neat way around this.
Renzatic on 7/6/2011 at 21:03
Wuh? It's Essence of Death that you need for the Melitele's Heart quest. Or at least it is in the English version.
And speaking of which, I just fought the Arachne. Turns out I was just right around the corner from him. The only downside is that I'm gonna have to kill him again, because the stupid ass cutscene kept me from getting it's eyeballs.
Malf on 7/6/2011 at 22:57
Soz, yeah, thnat's what I meant. And wraiths are the only source of it in chapter 1.

Thanks Van Helsing, found the coocons, inside of what seems carnivorous plants, i´m starting to enjoy more this game, you should be proud of your country to produce great games like this one, i also enjoyed Two word 2 wich is also a Polish game, the only bad things about these two game, is that creatures and herbs respaw and also the items in the inventory have a weight limit, also its very bad that i can´t jump in this game, every game should provide you total freedom of movements, apart from those issues i´m loving this game much more that two word 2 ;)

I'm nearing the end of Chapter 2, and I've got two things to say about this game.
The Witchers are now my favorite RPGs after the Gothic/Risen series.
Dwarves sure are dirty bastards. Lesbomancy indeed.
