Find myself in big trouble inside sarcophagus area. :( ... (How do I get down, how do I deal with treebeasts, how do I continue with respect to that guardian skull?) ... Fire Eater,
Went through this yesterday.
The bad news is you will need some health and healing potions to do this as I haven't found a way to get the fire arrows (necessary to kill treebeasts) without losing health.
Given your location: Look down from where you're at. You should see a coffin. (If you have enough health to jump towards one of the towers and grab a fire arrow without killing yourself, do so.) Otherwise, drop to the coffin and then drop to the floor. Then, run to the other side of the room. Mantle up to the areas on the back on either side of the closed door - you can then do multiple mantles up pretty high on either side, including the left side where you see the side passage.
Your first goal is to slaughter the treebeasts and 2 fire arrows each (from either of these "high mantle" areas or the starting area for this room) seems to be the best way to do it. The way I got the fire arrows was to jump from these high mantle areas towards a tower and then frob it as I'm flying past (and unfortunately take some falling damage). You can do similar things from the starting area or the "mid-point on the left hallway" to get the 2 fire arrows on the towers closest to you as you start the room.
Once you've killed the treebeasts (I know, easier said than done), mantle up on the back on either side of the door as before, then go to the left to find a hallway right next to the room. Go to the end of the hallway and press a button. The coffin will move, revealing the guardian's skull. Pick up the skull and walk towards the door and the door will open. Once you reach the viewpoint of the next room, you can drop the skull.
The good news is that after you do this sequence with the treebeasts, you will not need to return to this room or the water maze to complete the level.
Hope this helps....
Hmm, I never take damage when jumping toward the arrows from the ledge!
prjames, you got it wrong!!! :o
There are two ways to get the door in the room with the sentinels to open!
1- Kill the sentinels by getting the fire arrows as you described. It is also possible to kill both of them with only two fire arrows if you can get the to stand very close to each other or on the trap on the floor. Killing them will cause the coffin to slide open and reveal the "guardian's Skull".
2- You can get the skull without killing the sentinels by sneaking behind the sentinels and mantle up on the back on either side of the door, then go to the left to find a hallway right next to the room. Go to the end of the hallway and press a button. The coffin will move, revealing the guardian's skull. Pick up the skull and walk towards the door and the door will open. Once you reach the viewpoint of the next room, you can drop the skull.
You didn't have to do both, prjames!! ;)
I added the second method for ghosters. :thumb:

Thanks! Interesting clarification (and I had known that, my own trip through the area might have been easier.)

prjames, secrets...
Can't help with all but one is in Grocer's upstairs, not sure but I think another was in Weapons downstairs, banner. That's it for now, can't remember for sure if Antique's bookcase counted but I think so.
The first and third one are correct, but as for the second one:
It is near the Weapon shop, but not actually in it.
major Hint:
Try the weapon shop's roof!
Has anyone found
the Fourth Secret yet? :ebil:

However,
don't think I'm able to frob arrows while doing a flying leap and taking a harder fall in the motion vice a drop-down from my ledge, alerting treebeasts search mode (spuing nasty magic casts).
:( Of course either way might do it anyway as they seem to be on higher alert, but think it would be a less damaging fall. After I shot my first arrow, I immediately put away my bow and waited till they returned to position and settled back down but just bringing my next arrow back up again, sent them on search again. My current health is about three less from a basic full, not all the way to fullest mark...and again I do have my two life potions (hope they give more than just five fillers especially since you did make this last part...some very damaging potentials!).
One other thought however that I wished you would have incorporated I.T.,
for us less gifted jumpers to get arrows, would have been a place to put rope arrows as you did in first ver.; but still forced a jumping sequence to get at them. A few rocks could have fallen down exposing wood from a tree root...since you apparently endup out in a forested area or something like that? Maybe I'm just imagining that I heard another beast outside of this area, but I thought I read something about a forest someone had posted they had to go though in this other area, which would still be in keeping with next area?
Anyway, I'll try to see if I can get over and up to where I need to go without dying but in sneak mode (or maybe at least to kill one to better my chances before drop-down). LOL
EDIT: Much later...
Well so far kindof OK. I ended up tossing my mine in front of one beast near his station and he died...good! But two fire arrows for one...no, no not for me. I hit him both times in head (this was tried a couple of times before as I explained earlier and it didn't work then either) so after he went back to his station, I decided to see if I could drop-down safely. Put a moss arrow on top of casket (which didn't spread) but landed safely without damage or noise. Beast had actually moved to where he was sortof half off his pedestal furthest away side. So I continued around to back and mantled up..not sure if I needed to crouch mantle or stand mantle (hard to tell which way works at times). So I crouched first which didn't work and caused noise which sent Beast out again, but since I immediately stood and tried again that way got up. Now I have to get up the rest of the way. The only thing that confuses me a bit is: do I have to mantle up that same hole in the wall I spotted from my first entry out of portal? That's a long way around for sure.
Well on my earlier comment about hearing possible other Beast...ha, ha...it's the you-know-whats that I'm not thrilled about playing against. That maybe the stick that broke the camels back, so to speak. Not sure how much further I will go again in this one..have to wait and see.
Bye again.

Immortal,
Thanks for your hint which gave me a third secret. But now I'm confused...
The Fire Eater referred to a bookshelf in the antique dealer's. I thought at first that was a reference to the bookshelf in the BOOKSTORE which opens when you find the switch that leads to the Keep. That bookshelf opening clearly does not count as a secret.
Now I realize I don't know where this Antique dealer IS. The businesses I've visited in this mission (besides the Keep, the Hammer/Mechanist area, and the City Watch area) are: "Dirty Duck Inn" (where you start the mission), "Francines'(?) Fine Fruits" and "Walter's Weapons" (both by the City Watch), "Calvin & Calvin Imports & Exports" (in the warehouse by the docks), "Jerrold's Jewels" (by the inn) and "Gliff Klepson's Books & Scrolls" (the bookstore). So where's the Antique dealer?
Either I visited the Antique dealer before and forgot all about it or... I found the fourth secret without noticing...
Update: D'oh! My third secret is indeed the antique dealer... ... the fourth secret remains unknown to me.

That's the bldg. near City Watch
where you find Gold skull and a mask. You had to go there to get one or two quest items depending on your play mode.
Note to I.T. incase you read this post. Look above prjames post again as I added another new post that will get buried again as new ones are added on. :) Thanks

Fire Eater, you are basically 5 minutes to the end of the mission. also:
There are no undead in this mission so rest assured. ;)
You are doing pretty well:
The fire arrows should be shot at the mid section of the sentinels, not the head.
On the other hand:
Now that you are on the ledge, just jump/mantle up the edge next to you. Three mantle should take you to the upper left corner of the room, you'll see a little passageway there that leads to the switch. If you hit the switch, the coffin will open and you wont have to kill the sentinel. That hole in the wall you saw is one of the exits for getting out of that passage.
I need some help cause I hit switch, dropped down by dead Beast as I decided I'd better use moss arrow on marble landing since I will be dropping down from there and other Beast is moaning in pain since I did shoot him twice...poor beastie. :( However the problem is when I got to skull...it won't highlight for me to frob???? what the heck is the matter??? I see you were here just now when I got on board and hope your still here to read this. Thanks
EDIT: darn..you left before I could get this posted. Guess I'll have to wait again till you return sometime or other. :( LOL, now your back again and I'll wait to see if you reply for a bit. :)

Think I might have used the easy way
for the Tree-Beasties.
Stayed up on the ledge, used a noisemaker to get their attention, & when they were next to each other, hit them with both existing fire-arrows. Then I jumped around on the ledge & used some broadheads to keep drawing them into the trap in the middle area. Took about 5 mins, but I got the skull, took no damage & got the 4 fire-arrows one-at-a-time using a rope arrow. (the pillars are made of wood) :D
Don't know if playing on Hard rather than Expert made any difference here.
Cowardly perhaps, but I always like to avoid taking damage, if possible. :sly:
prjames : don't suppose you remember where that 4th secret is?
The Fire Eater : sorry, but it worked fine for me. Got all the latest scripts?
