There are a few things that I still haven't understood... - by xman

1 - How do you memorize a spell ??? It's supposed to work by pressing the "stealth" key while gesturing the spell but it works... NOT.
2 - Weren't you supposed to be able to steal things that NPCs were carrying ? I tried double-clicking on NPCs while pressing stealth but it did nothing. Should it work if I had more stealth points?

You hold down both the stealth mode and magic mode buttons while making the gestures, then let go of both buttons and an icon should appear in the lower left corner of the screen.

I've tried to press both at the same time, make my spell and relese both... Nothing.
I've tried to press and release stealth first... Nothing.
I've tried to press and release magic first... Nothing.
I've tried to press stealth first and release it last... Nothing.
I've tried to press magic first and release it last... Nothing.
I can't see any other possibility. And, in case you'd wonder, yes I am pressing the right keys!
Also... I still haven't managed to make the "see all spells" cheat found by Dubs.

When you did it... did a small icon of the spell appear in the lower left... just like the magic missile one you memorize from the scroll.

Actually, I've tried with the "- |_|" spell (ignite), which is the easiest to cast but it did not appear in the bottom-left corner.
It only appeared a few milliseconds in the upper-right corner to tell that I cast it correctly.

Try to press the left shift key plus the magic key while drawing runes on the screen, then release both keys. The spell is memorized for future use.

I think you couldn't perform the "Ctrl + D" manipulation due to WinXP : at early stage of loading, your command is still interpreted by the OS : try to desactivate this shortcut
anyway, unless I missed something (like a shortcut), I do not find this "memorized spell" really faster to cast than the mouse gesture, as you're suppose to leave the combat mode, then left click on the icon and return to the combat mode

Maybe that's the reason but I redefined all the keys to have everything on the numpad.
Therefore, I use "+" as stealth mode and "Enter" as Magic mode...
I would need THREE hands to use the left shift key...

Yes, that's it. You have to press shift, not the "stealth" key.
I consider it as a bug as the text says that I need to press the "stealth" key (which is "+" for me).
Also, the right-shift key is called "key_54" in the "customize controls menu". It would deserve a better name.
{Edited} Well... Actually, I tried again and it seems that it also works if I assign "ctrl" to the stealth key. Oh damn! Don't tell me my keyboard isn't even able to combine + and enter. I know some keys return up to three scan codes. So if you press 2 keys like these, it's as if you were pressing 6 normal keys... Gosh! I'm so used to play with the numpad... (the only part of the key-board where the keys are aligned!)

I allways keep the default settings if its not a action game like Counter-Strike... In a roleplaying game like Arx you dont need to be able to fire/hit that quick.
