Yeah, it's gone straight to my wishlist. I won't buy it just yet, mainly because I've got a fairly big VR backlog... but also because I'm not sure I've got the necessary coordination* for this, so I'm hoping to hear from others how well it plays.
*I don't think the rhythm aspect should be a problem, as I played the drums and all kinds of percussion instruments for years - but this almost looks more like dancing, and my dancing is mostly reminiscent of Human: Fall Flat.

I loved how they filmed that with all the VRness rendered as from the external view -- that seems like a much better way to show off VR in a 2D video.
I thought the game looked terrifying :) I hope that's one of the "hard" difficulty settings...

BEAT SABER IS GREAT! I completed the song in the above video on Hard this morning, after several failed attempts. Unlike Audioshield, you can actually fail songs in this one, Guitar Hero-style.
In other VR news:

(
https://www.oculus.com/go/) The Oculus Go is out! - We ordered 2 units at work. Will get back with impressions in a week or two hopefully. Most of the VR apps we make have been for GearVR, so we're very excited about the Go around here, as are our customers, who'd rather have a self-contained €219 device than shell out close to 1000 bucks for a phone+GearVR combo to run their new apps on.

What's Beat Saber's difficulty curve like, henke?
I also read about Oculus' Half-Dome (or whatever it's called), and it looks like they've got some interesting ideas to address the shortcomings of VR Generation 1.

I wonder how the half-dome prototype would deal with objects rapidly approaching the player that they switch focus to right before it hits them. I'd assume the screen distance would lag behind a bit in that case. Weren't there ideas about multiple translucent screens at different depths, too?

There are 4 difficulty settings for each song, so you can increase the difficulty at your own leisure. I've managed to beat half of the 10 tracks on Hard now, but Expert is still whooping my ass.

Woop, I've now managed to complete all of Beat Saber's tracks on Hard!
I'd say Balearic Pumping and Breezer are the most difficult tracks. Country Roads is probably the easiest track, and not, as I was hoping when I saw the title, a Country/Western song, but rather a Celtic-infused electro kinda thing. There's a good bit of variety in the game's 10 songs, ranging between pop, electro, hip-hop and metal. The soundtrack's on Spotify, and not half bad!

Indeed. The footage is captured with a program called Liv, which is free on Steam, so anyone who has the time and money and greenscreen can set up their own VR Mixed Reality recording studio.
Here's a really good video about the technology, as well as the fascinating backstory behind the development of Liv(it starts with the developer having his identity stolen and then changing his legal name to that of his WoW character).

IT'S
GO-TIME, BABY!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1y6ufvrjqghbfbn/OculusGo.jpg?raw=1Video/audio/comfortFeels pretty much like a GearVR! The view was initially a tad blurry around the edges, pulling the straps tighter remedied that, but gave me severe Oculus-face and a bit of a eye-strain instead! The straps are very soft and fabric-y, I would've preferred something more rigid like the Rift has instead. The built-in speakers are pretty good! No complaints about those.
ControllerI was expecting basically a touch-controller but without positional movement, but sadly it doesn't even quite live up to that. It detects rotation, but not rotation relative to the headset or anything, meaning the rotation of the in-VR controller-model can - and frequently will - get offset from the physical controller in your hand, eg. you might be pointing it straight ahead, but the in-VR controller will be pointing off to one side. Thankfully Oculus has planned for this, and you can always hold down the Oculus-button for a second to reset the controller's orientation. After a few hours with the device, you get used to it, though it's initially a bit wonky. The main button on the controller is the front trigger, though I think it might actually be entirely digital, not analogue. There's also a touchpad on top, which can also be used as 4 buttons.
GamesI tried out a few old GearVR games I owned, Darknet, Land's End, Gunjack. All playable, though they don't really make the most of the controller, and mostly they still use head-look for interaction, rather than the controller. I also poked a little bit at Bait! a new, free fishing game, designed with the controller in mind, though I didn't have time to try it much, need to check it out more later. Honestly I spent most of the evening replaying one of my Oculus Rift faves, that's right, it's...
Ultrawings!I was curious to see how the dual touch controls of the original could be made to work with a single, significantly simpler controller, but it actually works pretty well! The only complaint I have about the controls is that the touchpad is used for both throttle(up/down on the touchpad), and yaw(left/right on the touchpad) and I occasionally ended up decreasing throttle when I simply meant to yaw left. The already quite simple graphics of the original look perhaps even a tad rougher here, but the feel of the planes are unchanged, and soaring through the skies is still a very pleasant experience.
Here's a short and sweet review that shows the Oculus Go version in action:
