Thanks faetal. Good to see something different in comm chat for a change. Your summary is just a tad over my head, but could there be any other applications for this virtual skin(?) other than chemical testing?

Skinjobs of course.
With skin that's resistant to noxious secretions and expulsions.

I'd seen that before, but that didn't stop me watchin all 8 minutes again. Amazing animations.
PigLick - the applications are relevent to screening chemicals for skin allergies but also apply to drug allergies, many of which ooccur by the same mechanisms. Additionally, one of the later findings might see some application to vaccine development. In my next job, I'm going to spending some time on cancer vaccine research as a kind of side-project / proof-of-concept gambit.

So what are your findings and can you sum it up in one sentence please?

Don't just look for which proteins get modified, it's all about the nature of the chemical group's lability.

Post doc in France? Noice.
I guess you'll be learning French then. Also nice.
Good luck with it all, seems like it's going swimmingly!

What's up, doc?
faetal on 2/2/2014 at 18:22
I've got 5 years of French from school, so the phonemes and grammar should still be in there somewhere. I'm doing a 1 hour a day Pimsleur French course thingy as well, so I'll be able to get all enthused about baguettes and what not in no time.
What's up Duck? My salary hopefully :)

If you haven't tried it give DuoLingo a bash. It's free and you can do it on your computer or smartphone. It's pretty good imho and can be quite addictive. You've got 2 months so I reckon with the French you already know you'll get through loads of it.
