If you haven't tried it give DuoLingo a bash. It's free and you can do it on your computer or smartphone. It's pretty good imho and can be quite addictive. You've got 2 months so I reckon with the French you already know you'll get through loads of it.
You're the second person in the last week to recommend that - installing now.
Koob - thanks man. It's bizarre, I got so used to having it hanging over me, I never actually felt like it would ever be finished.

My sister is doing her PhD so I always hear from her how busy and hectic it is, and she's constantly flying/training to conferences playing the "academia game," a necessity in her field. So mad props for seeing all this through the end!
And I kinda know the feeling - not nearly as big in scope, but after I turned my masters thesis in, I just locked myself in my room and played Torchlight for 3 days straight :laff:

Check out Louis von Ahns talk on TED about it and recaptcha. Brilliant.

Last time I gave Duolingo a spin for learning French, it was horribad. Hopefully they have improved.

Don't just look for which proteins get modified, it's all about the nature of the chemical company's liability.
Fixed it for ya
Just kidding, good job!

Hah. Lolmythesis is great.
"This is definitely (probably maybe) the yeast version of a protein that probably (maybe perhaps) exists in humans."
Anyway, congrats on submission! When's the viva?

It's not perfect, but what is? The draw for me is that they've gamified it somewhat and it's easy to use, anywhere.

Not sure yet. Hopefully before April. :)

Lolmythesis just reminds me how hard it is to take most academic work in the humanities seriously, sadly as it's closer to my heart. I envy the natural sciences for their low BS tolerance sometimes.

Dema, yea, thats pretty much why i grew to hate most academia and dont ever want to do a Phd. to get to the valuable bits you often need to plow through inordinate amounts of verbose and eloquent bullshit and fluff. A giant circlejerk to get published.
During my masters I read a paper (published in a renowned journal) titles "How wars end". The first page explained why the topic is important, the next ten went on a semi-related tangent, and the last said the question is too complex to ever be answered. Great. Well that was a waste of a fucking half an hour. But hey you got published so a gold star for you.
